Signe Zeikate participa en lanzamiento de taller STEAM para niñez y adolescencia

Durante su visita por la provincia de Puntarenas, este viernes la primera dama de la República, Signe Zeikate, participó en el lanzamiento del taller de habilidades STEAM “Hora Código” en el marco de la iniciativa “Kids STEAM Lab” (“Laboratorio de chicas y chicos STEAM”), impulsado por el despacho de la primera dama, en articulación con la empresa HP Inc., el Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación, Tecnología y Telecomunicaciones (MICITT) y el Ministerio de Justicia y Paz.
La actividad tiene como propósito generar talleres que desarrollen habilidades en ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, arte y matemáticas (STEAM, por sus siglas en inglés) en niños, niñas y adolescentes, con el fin de empoderarles y darles competencias para su inclusión en la sociedad del conocimiento.
“Nuestro mundo ha cambiado, ahora tenemos pantallas planas que muestran caricaturas en colores, celulares más livianos, y computadoras que nos permiten explorar por internet toda la información que queramos. Pero, así como nuestro mundo ha cambiado, también debemos hacerlo nosotros, y de manera responsable“, manifestó la primera dama.
“Todo el conocimiento que vayamos adquiriendo, no sólo en la tecnología, sino también en ciencias, ingeniería, arte y matemáticas (que juntas forman la palabra STEAM), debe ser utilizado de manera positiva, pensando siempre cómo podemos aportar a nuestro país, y al mundo. Quiero invitar a todos los niños y las niñas presentes, a que nunca se detengan. Siempre busquen aprender más, descubrir más y alcanzar todos los sueños que se propongan”, agregó Zeicate.
Jannixia Villalobos Vindas, viceministra de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación destacó la importancia de la ciencia y la tecnología en edades tempranas.
“La incorporación de las personas a la sociedad del conocimiento en el marco de la cuarta revolución industrial, implica un reto enorme sobre el que las instituciones debemos trabajar fuertemente. Por eso, proyectos como este, que buscan desarrollar esas habilidades desde edades muy tempranas, son fundamentales para construir comunidades más inclusivas. Nos sentimos orgullosos de que esta sea la misma línea de trabajo que tiene el espacho de la señora primera dama” señaló la viceministra.
Por su parte el viceministro de Paz ,Sergio Sevilla Pérez, indicó: “Destacamos la ampliación de la oferta programática de los Centros Cívicos por la Paz con la inclusión de la ciencia y la tecnología, que permite sin lugar a duda superar un brecha tecnológica en las zonas rurales del país. Apoyamos la iniciativa de la primera dama y reafirmamos nuestro compromiso por una sociedad inclusiva”.
