Presidente Chaves visita Crucitas para conocer impacto de la minería ilegal
Esta es la primera vez que un mandatario visita esta zona.
El presidente de la República, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, visitó este sábado Crucitas de Cutris de San Carlos, en busca de soluciones a la problemática que enfrenta la zona por la minería ilegal que se realiza.
Esta es la primera vez que un mandatario visita este lugar.
“Hay 80 toneladas de mercurio, me dicen en esta zona y 3 a 4 millones de onzas troy de oro, gente que duerme sobre una mina de oro y tiene hambre. Entonces costarricenses se acabó, olvidamos el olvido después de noviembre, Costa Rica tiene un laudo un proceso judicial con la empresa Infinito, no podemos más que esperar por respeto a los procedimientos, a que ese laudo se solucione, entonces estamos a la espera”, manifestó el presidente Chaves.
“A los temas sociales les vamos a entrar ya, a los temas ambientales y de manejo de nuestros recursos naturales hay que esperarse un poquito más, pero aquí estamos, aquí vinimos. Un enorme agradecimiento al pueblo de Crucitas que nos dio una bienvenida no solo muy cordial, sino que muy franca, nos dijeron que es lo que está pasando”, agregó.
El mandatario manifestó que: “Cuando yo me di cuenta el miércoles pasado que hay meses de atraso de responder a la Sala Constitucional, que la gente de Crucitas tiene esto, ahí mismo junto con el ministro del Ambiente (Franz Tattenbach Capra), le dije ministro empaquemos y nos vamos para Crucitas”.
“Costa Rica está en una nueva era, los de siempre no lo entienden, estamos en una nueva era gracias a Dios, eso es lo que tengo que decir, yo veo para el futuro”, finalizó.
Posterior a la reunión con los vecinos de Cutris de San Carlos, el presidente hizo un recorrido por una finca en la cual los coligalleros crearon una serie de túneles para hacer la extracción ilegal de oro.
Por último se procedió con una caminata por la Finca Vivoyet, lugar donde se visitó la zona de la laguna y los túneles que están en la parte trasera de esta propiedad.
Según datos de la Dirección de Geología y Minas (DGM) a junio de 2022 hay cerca de 24 fincas afectadas por la minería informal en la zona, ascendiendo a cerca de 55.01 hectáreas.
La DGM estima que entre marzo de 2017 y diciembre de 2018 se extrajeron 149.243,10 ozt de mineral, con un valor en el mercado de $197.426.237,85.
