(Fotos) Costarricenses en el exterior ejercen su derecho al voto
La jornada de elecciones presidenciales en Costa Rica comenzó en Australia.
Este sábado 5 de febrero a las 4:00 p.m., hora de Costa Rica, abrió en Canberra, la capital de Australia, la junta receptora de votos 6.842 el primer recinto en recibir votantes para las elecciones nacionales 2022.
En ese consulado costarricense, ubicado en Oceanía, hay 147 nacionales empadronados, 76 hombres y 71 mujeres.
Así lo informó el Tribunal Supremos de Elecciones (TSE), que además indicó que 50.833 costarricenses empadronados en el extranjero, de los cuales 24.795 son mujeres y 26.038 hombres, podrán votar en 52 consulados habilitados en 42 países.
El país con más recintos para votar es Estados Unidos, en el país gobernado por Joe Biden habrá urnas en: Miami, New York, Washington, Los Ángeles, Houston, Chicago y Atlanta.
También hay juntas receptoras habilitadas en Japón, Alemania, Panamá, Indonesia, Argentina, España, Ecuador, Francia, India, Corea del Sur, China entre otros.
El TSE difundió las primeras imágenes de ticos haciendo fila para ingresar al consulado nacional para emitir su voto. La primera fue Ángela Solarte, una ingeniera costarricense que radica en Australia, quien condujo por 14 horas para votar.
Le siguió Harold Moya Quirós, quien emitió su voto en Japón, Nancy Patricia Hall Loría, quien votó en Corea y Laura Flores Garnier quien ejerció su derecho al voto desde Singapur.
Según datos oficiales en los últimos años ha habido un considerable crecimiento de electores en el extranjero para las elecciones nacionales: en 2014 12.654 costarricenses votaron fuera del país, en los comicios del 2018 31.864 ticos emitieron su voto en el exterior.
Para las elecciones de 2022 la cifra se ubicó en 50.833.
Los países con mayor cantidad de votantes son: Estados Unidos con 35.517, Canadá con 1507, España con 1450, Panamá con 1352, Nicaragua con 1335 y México con 1281.
