¡Espectacular! Fotografía tomada en la Península de Osa gana premio en Londres
La imagen titulada “Fiesta en la piscina de las ranas” fue capturada por Brandon André Güell Díaz.
El fotógrafo, Brandon André Güell Díaz, de 28 años, es un biólogo que comenzó un amor especial hacia la fotografía de vida silvestre hace varios años. Desde muy pequeño le ha apasionado la naturaleza y siempre le llamó la atención la fotografía.
Brandon obtuvo el tercer lugar en el concurso Fotógrafo del Año de Vida Silvestre 2022, que impulsa el Museo de Historia Natural de Londres, Inglaterra.
La imagen titulada “Fiesta en la piscina de las ranas” fue capturada en la Península de Osa, Puntarenas. En ella se aprecia a varias ranas, de la especie Agalychnis spurrelli (tipo de anfibio nocturno y arborícola), que posan sobre hojas de palma hasta donde llegaron para depositar sus huevos.
“Güell se metió hasta el pecho en el agua turbia de una piscina en la Península de Osa en Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Al amanecer, miles de ranas arborícolas planeadoras hembras llegaron a la piscina para poner sus huevos en las hojas de palma colgantes. Se habían sentido atraídos por las llamadas de los machos que esperaban.
Estos espectaculares eventos de reproducción en masa ocurren solo en unos pocos lugares remotos, algunas veces al año. Cada hembra pone alrededor de 200 huevos, creando enormes masas de huevos. Eventualmente, los renacuajos caerán al agua debajo”, indicó la organización del evento.
Güell Díaz obtuvo este reconocimiento de entre 38.500 participantes de 93 países, según informó el diario digital norteamericano The Atlantic.
La Embajada de Estados Unidos en Costa Rica destacó en sus redes sociales el logro del científico que posee las nacionalidades estadounidense y costarricense.
