Carlos Alvarado recibe ciudadanía honorífica en Corea del Sur
La actividad tuvo lugar en la Alcaldía de Seúl la cual se iluminó con los colores de la bandera de Costa Rica.
El mandatario de la República, Carlos Alvarado, recibió este lunes la ciudadanía honorífica en la ciudad de Seúl, Corea del Sur, de manos del alcalde Oh-See Hoon.
La actividad tuvo lugar en la Alcaldía de Seúl, cuyas instalaciones fueron iluminadas con los colores de la bandera de Costa Rica, en señal de la sólida amistad de casi 60 años de relaciones diplomáticas entre la República de Corea y Costa Rica.
En la ceremonia, el alcalde de Seúl, Oh-See Hoon, comentó: “Costa Rica y Corea están en extremos opuestos del planeta”, pero destacó que ambos reconocen “el inmenso valor de la paz”.
Además, destacó que Costa Rica: “Ha promulgado en su constitución el favorecimiento de la paz, su neutralidad y su favorecimiento a la desmilitarización, por eso es reconocida internacionalmente como un oasis de paz en las Américas y como el país más feliz del mundo”.
“Costa Rica, como país que tradicionalmente ha abogado por la paz, reconoce el valor de las acciones de la República de Corea por la paz en la península coreana”, aseguró Alvarado durante la visita, según informa un comunicado enviado por Casa Presidencial.
Luego de su visita a la frontera, el mandatario estuvo en la Universidad Nacional de Seúl, donde habló este lunes sobre “Costa Rica ante el desarrollo sostenible y el cambio climático: hacia una economía más verde, resiliente e inclusiva”.
“Debemos hacer que lo imposible sea posible: no es una opción, es un deber para nuestros hijos y nietos”, indicó.
Durante el encuentro, Alvarado entregó a See Hoon el “café del Bicentenario” y miel de abeja, ambos productos representativos de la producción tica.
El mandatario Carlos Alvarado inició hoy una gira de trabajo por Corea del Sur con el objetivo de atraer inversión extranjera y reforzar las relaciones diplomáticas entre ambos países.
Alvarado finalizará su visita al país asiático el 24 de noviembre.
