Carlos Alvarado advierte “El Estado costarricense no pagará nada a estos criminales cibernéticos”
El mandatario aseguró que los ataques informáticos que han sufrido las entidades públicas estos días buscan desestabilizar al país en época de transición.
El presidente de la República, Carlos Alvarado, se refirió por primera vez este jueves a la ola de ataques informáticos que han sufrido varias entidades públicas como el Ministerio de Hacienda y la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) en los últimos días.
“No es solo un ataque a las instituciones afectadas, al Gobierno o a importadores y exportadores, es un ciberataque de carácter criminal al Estado y a todo el país. Tampoco se puede desligar de la compleja situación geopolítica mundial en un mundo digitalizado. Digo esto, porque la primera acción que debemos hacer todos las y los costarricenses es unirnos una vez más para enfrentar esta amenaza”, manifestó Alvarado.
“Reitero que el Estado costarricense no pagará nada a estos criminales cibernéticos. Pero mi criterio es que este ataque no es un tema de dinero, sino que busca amenazar la estabilidad del país, en una coyuntura de transición. Esto no lo lograrán. Como siempre lo hemos hecho, cada persona de esta tierra pondrá de su parte para defender a Costa Rica”, agregó.
Fue el fin de semana anterior cuando iniciaron los ataques informáticos contra los sistemas de instituciones públicas que, en apariencia, vienen perpetrando una banda de ransomware llamada Conti.
“Como presidente, que ya ha enfrentado circunstancias muy difíciles y que no habían sido antes experimentadas por el país, les aseguro que esta situación está siendo atendida por el Gobierno con rigor, seriedad y empeño”, señaló el mandatario.
“La unión de lo público, lo privado, la academia, las mejores mentes y la disciplina con la implementación de medidas para fortalecer la ciberseguridad es crítica para que enfrentemos estos ataques. Como han informado los jerarcas del ramo, son varias las instituciones que han recibido ataques, la más notable el Ministerio de Hacienda”, agregó.
El gobernante explicó que desde el momento que se presentó la alerta, los equipos institucionales y de expertos desplegaron los protocolos existentes y las medidas necesarias para contener y repeler los ataques, así como para restaurar el funcionamiento digital de las plataformas afectadas, lo cual está en proceso.
En su intervención Alvarado indicó que: “Los pagos de pensiones ya han sido depositados y los de ayudas sociales como el programa Avancemos iniciarán mañana, como está calendarizado. Lo mismo se hará la próxima semana con las planillas públicas. También se trabaja para normalizar los procesos de importación y exportación y el pago de proveedores”.
El presidente de la República agradeció el apoyo que brindan expertos del sector privado y de países amigos a los profesionales del sector institucional para hacer frente a la amenaza.
“No obstante, esta sigue latente y debemos, todos como un solo país unido, mantener la guardia en alto. De esta situación, como lo hemos hecho frente a otros retos, también saldremos adelante”, finalizó.
