“Antes de tomar esta decisión toqué muchas puertas” Iary Gómez, dueña de la Extra
La empresa anunció este miércoles 32 de mayo, que cerraban sus operaciones.
Sin duda que la noticia acerca del cierre de Grupo Extra tras 45 años de trabajo, que se dio a conocer este miércoles 31 de mayo, tomó por sorpresa a muchas personas, quienes lamentaron la situación.
A raíz de dicha noticias muchas personas comenzaron a especular acerca de lo sucedido, pero la misma dueña de la empresa y gerente general, Lary Gómez, se refirió al tema, y aseguró que ella intentó venderla, pero lamentablemente no se pudo.
“No es una decisión alocada. Antes de tomar esta decisión toqué muchas puertas. Se puede hablar de gente muy pudiente, sectores, asociaciones, sindicatos, todo callado, confidencial, pero lo que yo quería era no cerrar este medio, ni Canal 42 ni Radio América, ni Diario Extra, era pasarlo a manos de otras personas, para que todos mis compañeros quedaran con trabajo, ellos se lo merecen, son buenos trabajadores”, expresó Gómez.
Asimismo, indicó que el cierre se dio porque, no contaban con las ventas ni la pauta publicitaria necesaria para mantener los gastos, además, aseguró que han tenido dificultades debido al alto costo de las materias primas y las afectaciones que se generaron por la pandemia del COVID-19.
“Hoy no pierde la familia Gómez Quesada o el Grupo Extra, hoy pierde Costa Rica, un país democrático, con el cierre de estos tres medios de comunicación que nunca han tenido un color político y defensor cien porciento de la libertad de expresión y de prensa”, agregó Gómez.
En cuanto a las personas que laboraban para la empresa, trascendió que alrededor de 150 personas se quedaron sin trabajo, entre estas periodistas, pregoneros, corresponsales, choferes y administrativos.
Por su parte, el Colegio de Periodistas y el Instituto de Prensa y Libertad de Expresión (IPLEX) dieron su posición acerca del cierre y lamentan la situación.
Raúl Silesky, presidente del Iplex expresó lo siguiente:
“El cierre de un medio es una mala noticia, es un día de luto para la democracia porque se silencia una voz que también expresaba la opinión de diversos sectores de la sociedad costarricense; nos solidarizamos con la gente de Diario Extra”
En cuanto a la presidenta del Colper, Yanancy Noguera, asegura que el cierre es “preocupante”.
“A partir de esta primera comunicación que hace el Grupo Extra, fue más que sentir agobio porque no deben dejar de existir medios de comunicación ni menos aquellos que han trabajado de manera continua durante tantos años que han desarrollado una marca, una audiencia”
“Es un grupo importante del que, en ese momento, está quedando desempleado, una audiencia que está quedando desatendida parcialmente”, indicó Noguera.
