42 bomberos ticos viajarán a Canadá para luchar contra los incendios en Alberta
En todo el país, unos 100.000 canadienses han tenido que abandonar sus hogares por la alerta roja activada.
42 bomberos costarricenses volarán a Canadá. Un desplazamiento que supone la respuesta tica a la petición de apoyo ante la terrible ola de incendios que sufre el país.
El jerarca de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto, Arnoldo André, indicó que el Gobierno del país norteamericano solicitó la ayuda de Costa Rica para hacerle frente a la emergencia.
Los profesionales son funcionarios del Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación (SINAC).
Trabajarán por varias semanas en la provincia de Alberta.
Nueve de las trece provincias canadienses arden. Este lunes permanecían 400 focos activos -la mitad de ellos estaban fuera de control. A lo largo del 2023, se han registrado unos 2.300 incendios forestales que han quemado alrededor de 3,8 millones de hectáreas.
Tras las provincias de Alberta, que ya resultó muy afectada en mayo y aún lucha contra unos setenta incendios, y Columbia Británica, que tiene 82 focos activos, ahora el epicentro es en Quebec con 150, de los cuales un centenar no podía ser mitigado. La provincia azotada por la inédita cantidad de llamas ha evacuado a más de 12.000 personas y el Gobierno se prepara para trasladar a otras 4.000.
