El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, anunció este lunes que la candidata a vacuna contra el coronavirus desarrollada por la farmacéutica AstraZeneca, llamada AZD1222, ha entrado a fase 3 de los ensayos clínicos.
“La vacuna de AstraZeneca ha alcanzado la fase 3 de los ensayos clínicos. Así que se está sumando al grupo de vacunas que están muy cerca del final y, con suerte, de su aprobación”, afirmó el jefe del Estado durante una rueda de prensa.
Los participantes están siendo asignados al azar para recibir dos dosis de la AZD1222 o un placebo con cuatro semanas de diferencia, dijo la compañía, que agregó que el doble de participantes están recibiendo la vacuna potencial frente al placebo.
El estudio está siendo financiado por el gobierno de Estados Unidos, dijo la compañía que cotiza en Londres.
