Tres turistas británicos desaparen en el mar Rojo tras accidente de yate
Un fallo eléctrico en la sala de máquinas habría sido la causa de la implosión de un yate cerca a un balneario del mar Rojo. Aunque los rescatistas lograron dar con varios miembros de la tripulación, tres turistas británicos se mantienen desaparecidos
Tres turistas británicos fueron reportados como desaparecidos este domingo 11 de junio de 2023 después de que se incendiara el yate en el que navegaban en el mar Rojo, en Egipto , informaron las autoridades locales.
«Quince pasajeros, diez miembros de la tripulación y dos guías turísticos» fueron rescatados, informaron en un comunicado las autoridades regionales del mar Rojo, que agregaron que siguen las operaciones para encontrar a los tres turistas desaparecidos.
El yate Hurricane realizaba una travesía de seis días que concluía el domingo cuando estalló un incendio en momentos en que estaba a 25 kilómetros del balneario de Marsa Alam, en el mar Rojo.
Según los reportes iniciales, el fuego se produjo por un fallo eléctrico en la sala de máquinas, señalaron las autoridades.
El mar Rojo es uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes de Egipto, un país que sufre una grave crisis económica y que depende de este sector, que representa un 10% del PIB.
También en el mar Rojo un ciudadano ruso murió este jueves, 8 de junio de 2023, tras ser atacado por un tiburón en el litoral de la localidad egipcia de Hurgada.
«El ataque de un tiburón contra un hombre… provocó su deceso», declaró en Facebook el Ministerio egipcio de Medioambiente, sin dar más detalles.
El cónsul general de Rusia, Viktor Voropayev, dijo a la agencia de prensa oficial del país TASS que las autoridades egipcias confirmaron el fallecimiento de un ciudadano ruso nacido en 1999.
«La víctima no era un turista, sino un residente permanente en Egipto», dijo a la agencia.
En un video difundido en redes sociales y presentado como evidencia del incidente se ve a una persona luchando para escapar del tiburón.
El Ministerio egipcio dijo que el animal fue capturado y que su análisis reveló «un comportamiento anormal… que causó el incidente».
La presencia de tiburones no es excepcional, pero raramente atacan a los bañistas. Aun así, hay antecedentes similares como dos turistas, una austríaca y una rumana, fallecidas en julio de 2022 cerca de Hurgada.
Ataques de tiburón también provocaron la muerte en el mar Rojo de una checa en 2018 y de dos alemanes en 2010 y 2015.
