Las autoridades talibanes encendieron este fin de semana una hoguera en una provincia del oeste de Afganistán y arrojaron instrumentos y equipos musicales a las llamas, por considerar la música como inmoral.
«Promover la música conduce a la corrupción moral y tocar música extravía a los jóvenes», declaró Aziz al-Rahman al-Muhajir, responsable del Ministerio de Promoción de la Virtud y Represión del Vicio en la provincia occidental de Herat, donde tuvo lugar la hoguera.
Muchos de los equipos musicales que se quemaron el sábado fueron confiscados de las salas de boda de la ciudad.

Las mujeres tampoco pueden trabajar para organizaciones internacionales, acceder a parques, jardines, gimnasios o baños públicos o viajar sin ir acompañadas de un familiar varón. También deben cubrirse integralmente al salir de casa.
Miles de salones de bellezas cerraron de manera definitiva el martes después de la entrada en vigor de un decreto. Muchos de estos comercios eran regentados por mujeres y solían ser a menudo su única fuente de ingresos.
