Raro ejemplar de puma albino nació en zoológico de Nicaragua
El zoológico Thomas Belt en Nicaragua presentó a un cachorro de puma albino, que es producto de una rara mutación genética. Un veterinario del establecimiento habló sobre el estado de salud del animal.
Un ejemplar de puma albino, una mutación rara en el mundo animal, especialmente en estos felinos, nació hace un mes en un zoológico de Nicaragua, donde aún permanece resguardado de la mirada de los visitantes.
«Estamos tomando todas las medidas para poder tenerlo lo más sano posible junto con su madre», explicó a la AFP el veterinario Carlos Molina, del zoológico Thomas Belt, ubicado en Juigalpa, departamento de Chontales, a unos 139 kilómetros de Managua. «Está sano, tiene buena condición corporal», anotó.
«Estamos contentos de tenerlo porque esto no se ve muy a menudo», sostuvo Molina. El puma es el segundo felino más grande de América después del jaguar y el cuarto del mundo tras el tigre y el león.
Los encargados del zoológico evitan el contacto con el pequeño puma albino, que crece junto a su madre en una cueva instalada en el recinto vallado, y esperan que dentro de dos meses el cachorro pueda recibir tratamiento veterinario.
