Portugal detecta primeros casos de la nueva variante de coronavirus
En todos los casos reportados en varios países coinciden en que los afectados por el nuevo linaje de la COVID-19 son ciudadanos que viajaron desde Reino Unido.
La nueva variante de la COVID-19 descubierta en Reino Unido, ha sido encontrada en algunos portadores en la isla portuguesa de Madeira, informó la autoridad regional de Protección Civil.
Según la Secretaría Regional de Salud de Madeira, la nueva variante fue “detectada en viajeros que llegaron a Madeira desde el Reino Unido”, pero no precisó cuántas personas estaban contagiadas con el nuevo linaje del SARS-CoV-2.
La identificación de los casos fue posible gracias al rastreo que se desarrolla en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Madeira “Cristiano Ronaldo”. En países como España, Japón, Noruega, Jordania y Corea del Sur, también se han reportado infectados con la nueva variante.
En todos los casos registrados coincide que los afectados por el nuevo linaje de coronavirus son ciudadanos que viajaron desde el Reino Unido.
Este lunes 28 de diciembre, Portugal notificó 1.577 positivos y 63 nuevos fallecidos por la COVID-19, por lo que el número total de decesos desde que comenzó la pandemia es de 6.619, mientras que los infectados suman 394.573.
Campaña de vacunación
Portugal, al igual que el resto de países de la Unión Europea, inició el último domingo la campaña de vacunación con la administración de las dosis al personal sanitario de los hospitales universitarios de Lisboa, Oporto y Coimbra.
António Sarmento, de 65 años y director del Servicio de Enfermedades Infecciosas del Hospital São João de Oporto, ha sido el primer vacunado contra la COVID-19 en Portugal. Por otro lado, el gobierno espera que, hasta el mes de abril se logre vacunar a 950.000 personas.
Teniendo como prioridad a las personas que viven en residencias geriátricas y sus cuidadores, profesionales sanitarios y personas de más de 50 años con diferentes dolencias.
Estado de emergencia
Portugal se encuentra en estado de emergencia –nivel máximo de alerta del país-, por lo que hasta el 7 de enero hay un toque de queda que comienza a las 13.00 los festivos y a las 23.00 los días de diario.
Además, el día 31 de diciembre los portugueses tendrán plazo de volver a casa hasta las 23.00, y los días 1, 2 y 3 de enero el toque de queda empezará a las 13.00.
