Niño de siete años murió tras atorarse con una salchicha en el colegio
El niño estaba riéndose con sus amigos en el recreo antes de atorarse con una salchicha en la garganta. Aunque fue trasladado a un centro asistencial, el pequeño estuvo 20 minutos sin oxígeno y sufrió un paro cardíaco.
Un niño de siete años en Australia perdió la vida en un lamentable accidente, luego de atorarse con una salchicha coctelera en el recreo del colegio. Según las versiones preliminares, el pequeño se estaba riendo y jugando con sus amigos cuando se le atoró la comida en la garganta.
Los hechos se presentaron el pasado 19 de julio de 2023 al interior de la escuela Orange, ubicada en el estado de Nueva Gales del Sur, cuando Decklan Hayward departía con sus amigos en la hora de la merienda. En medio de las risas y los juegos, el niño se atragantó con una salchicha coctelera que se atascó en su conducto respiratorio, impidiendo el paso de oxígeno.
Inmediatamente, el niño fue trasladado en avión a un hospital en Sídney con daño cerebral extenso, por lo que tuvo que ser conectado a un soporte vital. Después de casi diez días desde el incidente, los padres de Decklan Hayward tomaron la decisión de desconectar a su hijo de las máquinas que lo mantenían con vida, al ver que no presentaba señales de recuperación.
“Es momento de dejar que a nuestro hijo le crezcan las alas y se vaya con los ángeles” informaron los padres del niño en medios locales después de anunciar que lo desconectarían, el viernes 28 de julio.
Con el fin de aliviar el estrés financiero de los padres que se encuentran de luto, la tía de Decklan, Kaylah Hayward, creó una colecta por medio de la página de GoFundMe con el fin de recoger los recursos necesarios para darle “la despedida que se merece” el pequeño.
“Cualquiera que haya conocido a Decky sabe que él era un niño divertido, feliz y enérgico, y que siempre tendrá un lugar especial en muchos de nuestros corazones. Otros lo recuerdan como un niño alegre, adorable y hermoso que hacía reír a todos”, se lee en la página.
Este no es el primer caso de este tipo que se presenta en esta región de Australia. En enero de 2023 una niña de cinco años, identificada como Imogen Lennon, también perdió la vida en circunstancias similares, luego de atorarse con una salchicha coctelera mientras viajaba en automóvil con su madre camino a su casa, después de recibir clases de natación. La menor fue trasladada a un centro asistencial pero murió poco después de ingresar.
