Niña de 9 años muere tras sufrir grave infección de piojos
La madre y la abuela de la menor de edad fueron detenidas por su responsabilidad, dado que se habrían negado a brindarle atención médica.
Una niña de 9 años murió luego de sufrir una grave infección producto de los piojos que su madre decidió no tratar, en Tucson, Arizona, Estados Unidos.
A raíz del caso, la policía local detuvo a la madre de la niña, Sandra Kraykovich (38) y su abuela, Elizabeth Kraykovic (64), quienes actualmente enfrentan cargos por delitos graves, incluidos asesinato en primer grado.
De acuerdo a lo recogido por Mirror, pese a los intentos por reanimarla, la niña fue declarada muerta en el lugar y tras iniciarse una investigación se reveló que había sufrido una infección grave por piojos y síntomas médicos no tratados, como desnutrición.
Y es que tras declarar la muerte de la menor de edad, una «gran cantidad de insectos comenzaron a cubrir su rostro», dijo la policía local, que también apuntó que había «enormes cantidades de piojos en su cabello».
Tras la revisión de su celular, se apuntó que tanto ella como la abuela de la niña habían optado por no buscar tratamiento médico, por lo que se les detuvo por su presunta responsabilidad en el fallecimiento de la niña.
En la casa donde se encontró a la niña también se ubicó a dos menores de edad, de 11 y 13 años, que sufrían severas infestaciones de piojos en su cabello y que fueron puestos en custodia de otros familiares.
El médico forense del condado de Pima determinó que la causa de muerte de la niña fue anemia por infestación de piojos no tratada, con la desnutrición como factor contribuyente.
