México extraditó a Estados Unidos a Ovidio Guzmán López, hijo de ‘El Chapo’
Tras el arresto y condena a cadena perpetua de ‘El Chapo’ en Estados Unidos, sus cuatro hijos, conocidos como ‘Los Chapitos’, heredaron el liderazgo del cártel de Sinaloa.
México extraditó este viernes a Estados Unidos a Ovidio Guzmán López, alias «El Ratón» e hijo del narcotraficante Joaquín «Chapo» Guzmán, informó el fiscal general y secretario de Justicia, Merrick Garland, en un comunicado.
Tras el arresto y condena a cadena perpetua de «El Chapo» en Estados Unidos, sus cuatro hijos, conocidos como «Los Chapitos», heredaron el liderazgo del cártel de Sinaloa. Washington les acusa de narcotráfico.
La agencia antidrogas de Estados Unidos (DEA) considera al Cartel de Sinaloa como el principal responsable del tráfico de fentanilo, una droga 50 veces más potente que la heroína y que ha causado buena parte de los 109.000 muertos por sobredosis en 2022 en el país, según datos preliminares de los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades.
El hijo de «El Chapo» fue detenido en enero pasado en México. La operación se saldó con 29 muertos, entre ellos 10 militares y 19 presuntos delincuentes, cuando integrantes del Cartel de Sinaloa intentaron rescatar a su jefe.
Guzmán ya había sido detenido el 17 de octubre de 2019 en Culiacán (noroeste), pero fue liberado por orden del presidente mexicano Andrés Manuel López Obrador en medio de una asonada de la organización criminal.
El mandatario izquierdista defendió entonces su decisión, afirmando que se evitó un baño de sangre cuando efectivos militares quedaron rodeados por personas armadas.
