Meta anuncia pausa en contratación de empleados remotos por tiempo indefinido
Meta, la compañía matriz de Facebook e Instagram, ha indicado que los ingenieros que trabajan en las oficinas de la empresa tienen un mejor rendimiento en comparación con aquellos que comenzaron trabajando de manera remota.
Meta, la empresa matriz de Facebook, ha anunciado que está eliminando todas sus ofertas de trabajo que incluyan condiciones de trabajo remoto, según un informe de Business Insider. La compañía ha ordenado no publicar ninguna nueva oferta de trabajo cuya localización esté fuera de las oficinas, y los procesos internos para obtener un puesto completamente remoto o en otra oficina también han sido pausados. Sin embargo, fuentes cercanas a la empresa han señalado que esta decisión es temporal y se debe a los procesos de reestructuración iniciados por la empresa.
Desde enero, Meta ha estado comunicando a sus mánagers que los trabajadores asignados a una oficina deben acudir a ella al menos dos días a la semana. Además, la empresa tiene previsto eliminar el bonus de 1.100 dólares que ofrece a los empleados para la compra de equipos para teletrabajo, aunque seguirá pagando 75 dólares mensuales a los trabajadores por el uso de Internet en casa.
Esta decisión de Meta se produce después de que su fundador, Mark Zuckerberg, expresara su preferencia por el trabajo presencial en la empresa. En una reunión con los empleados el año pasado, Zuckerberg dijo que los ingenieros que comenzaron en Meta en una capacidad completamente presencial antes de pasar a una función remota, así como aquellos que permanecieron en una función presencial, «realizaron mejor en promedio que las personas que se unieron de forma remota». Según el fundador de la empresa, «este análisis también muestra que los ingenieros al principio de su carrera se desempeñan mejor en promedio cuando trabajan en persona con compañeros de equipo al menos tres días a la semana».
Aunque esta decisión de Meta puede parecer controvertida, hay algunas razones por las que la empresa puede estar tomando esta medida. En primer lugar, es posible que Meta crea que el trabajo presencial es más productivo y que los empleados rinden mejor cuando están en la oficina. Además, la empresa puede estar buscando una mayor colaboración y camaradería entre los miembros del equipo, lo que podría ser más fácil de lograr cuando los empleados trabajan juntos en persona.
Otra posible razón para esta decisión es que Meta está buscando una forma de reducir costos. El pago del bonus para la compra de equipos de teletrabajo y el pago mensual por el uso de Internet en casa pueden haber sido costosos para la empresa. Además, si los empleados trabajan en la oficina, la empresa no tiene que preocuparse por proporcionarles equipos de teletrabajo o por asegurarse de que tengan una conexión de Internet estable.
