Macabro hallazgo en una cárcel: encuentran a seis presos ahorcados
Los cadáveres fueron hallados durante una revisión de pabellones de la cárcel. Las autoridades no han precisado si los reclusos de tenían señales de violencia y si pertenecían a bandas criminales
Seis presos fueron encontrados ahorcados en una cárcel de Guayaquil, la ciudad más golpeada por las matanzas en centros penitenciarios de Ecuador a causa de pugnas del narcotráfico.
En un corto mensaje enviado a la prensa, el organismo encargado de administrar las prisiones (SNAI) informó sobre el hallazgo de los cadáveres en sus celdas «durante la revisión de pabellones» en la prisión Guayas N°1.
Las autoridades no han precisado si los presos tenían señales de violencia y si pertenecían a bandas criminales.
En las afueras de la prisión, algunos familiares de reclusos se acercaban en la mañana de este miércoles, 12 de abril de 2023, para pedir información sobre sus parientes, constataron periodistas de la AFP. Varias ambulancias entraron a la cárcel.
Los fallecidos se encontraban en el pabellón 5 de esta prisión que alberga a unos 6.800 presos y es parte de un gran complejo penitenciario.
Según medios locales, ese pabellón está controlado por una banda denominada Las Águilas, que impone su ley y extorsiona a los presos.
En Guayaquil (suroeste), principal puerto comercial de Ecuador, han ocurrido la mayoría de las más de 400 muertes de presos en las masacres carcelarias registradas desde febrero de 2021.
El gobierno del presidente derechista Guillermo Lasso considera que las matanzas son producto de choques entre bandas rivales vinculadas al narcotráfico, que se disputan a sangre y fuego rutas y territorio para el tráfico de drogas.
Las masacres dejan cuerpos degollados, calcinados y desmembrados en un país golpeado por un repunte de la violencia y sumido en la peor crisis carcelaria de su historia. La más grave se registró en septiembre de 2021, cuando 119 presos fueron asesinados.
