“Hoy digo basta”: el mensaje de un médico tras ser agredido por familiares de un paciente con COVID-19

Este es el sincero y potente reclamo de un médico agredido a pedradas por familiares de un paciente con COVID-19
Daniel Gatica es un médico que dejó su trabajo en el hospital de Orán, en Salta (Argentina), luego de ser agredido a pedradas por los familiares de una víctima de coronavirus. El galeno difundió un mensaje en su cuenta personal de Facebook, la misma que se convirtió en viral, pues contaba la complicada situación que le tocó vivir como profesional de la salud en la lucha de esta epidemia mortal.
Según informó el Clarín en una nota publicada en su página web, el acto vandálico se produjo en el Hospital San Vicente de Paul, el sábado 12 de septiembre del presente año. Después de dicho suceso, el doctor decidió dar un paso al costado.
“Hoy viví uno de los días más tristes de mi vida como profesional. Hoy sentí el peso de esta maldita pandemia. Hoy, 13 de septiembre, dije: ‘Basta, basta’. Fueron 12 días de puro estrés, de solo dar malas noticias, de tener que estar en todos lados, de no dormir, de comer lo que venga, de no tomar agua por horas y horas, de no poder ir al baño…”, se lee al comienzo de la publicación viral realizada por Daniel Gatica.
En la carta, el médico residente aseguró sentirse agotado por la situación que se vive a raíz del COVID-19. “Me cansé de atar con alambre, de hacer lo imposible, de seguir protocolos que sabemos que no sirven, de tener que elegir a quien dar una cama y a quien darle un tubo de oxígeno semivacío y una camilla o una silla. Me cansé de salir a las 15 y volver a las 18, y salir dos días después, sin tener donde bañarse ni cambiarse, total SOMOS RESIDENTES. ¿Todo para qué? Para recibir esto… una agresión física y al alma de una sociedad hipócrita e injusta que cuando se tenía que cuidar, todo era joda y joda, y hoy lloran a sus muertos y reclaman atención”.
“Siempre dije: ‘Hay que cuidarse porque cuando llegue la pandemia a Orán hará desastre’. Nuestra población tiene secuelas pulmonares, secuelas de TBC, HIV, de desnutrición, de obesidad, de adicciones y de diabetes no controlada”, sostuvo. “Tenemos hacinamiento a dos cuadras del centro, y hablo de conocer el barrio, la calle y los centros de salud por donde fui y voy desde que entré a la residencia. Hoy digo ‘basta’. Hoy siento que fracasé. Hoy dejo el lugar que amé, el lugar que me enseñó, que me guió, que hizo lo bueno y lo malo que soy”.
Tras asegurar que no podía más con la situación, dio las gracias a las personas que se preocuparon por él. “Hasta aquí llegó mi salud mental, mi esfuerzo físico y espiritual, no da para más. Esta pandemia sacó lo peor de todos, gente que solo le calienta la guita y gente que no da más y no cobra nada”. Su publicación realizada en Facebook dio la vuelta al mundo.
