(Fotos) El Salvador envía un centenar de rescatistas a Turquía tras terremoto
Un equipo de 100 personas, entre rescatistas y médicos, partió este miércoles a Turquía. El grupo será reforzado por dos perros de rescate.
Una brigada de 100 rescatistas salvadoreños partió este miércoles hacia Turquía para sumarse al rescate de víctimas del terremoto del lunes, que también afectó a Siria.
«Estamos enviando a un equipo especializado en búsqueda y rescate», aseguró el ministro de Gobernación (interior), Juan Carlos Bidegain.
La delegación salvadoreña está compuesta por 58 soldados especializados en búsqueda y rescate de personas, además de 42 bomberos, médicos y paramédicos, y dos perros entrenados para la labor.
«Vamos en camino», escribió en Twitter el presidente Nayib Bukele, al mostrar fotografías del contingente salvadoreño abordando un avión en el aeropuerto internacional Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero.
La brigada salvadoreña solo operará en Turquía, no en Siria, indicaron funcionarios.
«El grupo está capacitado para permanecer 52 días. La misión que llevamos es ayudar a nuestros hermanos turcos», manifestó el titular del Ministerio de la Defensa, René Merino Monroy.
También se envían medicamentos y agua.
Esta ayuda se suma a otra que ya ha sido enviada de parte de países como Brasil y México, y a los 31 equipos de rescate y cinco equipos médicos que han ofrecido ya de forma individual 20 países de la Unión Europea, entre ellos España, Albania, Montenegro y Serbia, a través del Mecanismo de Protección Civil de la UE.
Un terremoto de magnitud 7,7 sacudió la madrugada del lunes el sur del territorio turco, cerca de la frontera con Siria, al que siguieron varias réplicas potentes y otro sismo de magnitud 7,6, y deja al menos 11.000 muertos, en su mayoría en Turquía.
