El Salvador inaugura el primer hospital veterinario del mundo financiado con bitcóin
Chivo Pets inició operaciones este sábado.
El presidente de El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, inauguró Chivo Pets, el primer hospital veterinario público de esa nación centroamericana financiado con parte de las ganancias obtenidas por el aumento de bitcóin (BTC) en octubre del año pasado.
Las puertas del hospital estarán abiertas al público desde este sábado 26 de febrero y atenderán pacientes de 7:00 a.m. a 10:00 p.m, todos los días y emergencias 24/7. Las citas se pueden solicitar a través de http://chivopets.sv o llamando al 195, según informó la Casa Presidencial de El Salvador.
El precio de las consultas será de USD 0,25 y podrán ser pagadas desde cualquier monedero digital. “Todos los procedimientos tendrán el mismo precio para ayudar a las personas que no tienen capacidad económica para pagar una veterinaria privada”, indicó el gobierno salvadoreño.
La nueva instalación médica para mascotas cuenta con 12 consultorios. Las autoridades estiman que darán 384 consultas diarias.
“El laboratorio clínico de Chivo Pets es un complemento importante del día a día del médico veterinario para poder diagnosticar certeramente las dolencias que padece cada peludito, desde perfiles renales hasta perfiles hepáticos”, explicaron.
El centro médico está dividido por estaciones, la hospitalización de gatos o perros infecciosa y no infecciosa. Adicionalmente, tiene cuatro quirófanos, uno de ellos está dedicado para los pacientes que ingresan por emergencias. Un área de imagenología dividida en radiología y ultrasonografía.
También hay áreas de rehabilitación y peluquería canina. Entre otras cosas, el hospital tiene disponible puestos de coworking, junto a dos salones de clases y un auditorio, que “permitirán la integración del personal, generando un ambiente de intercambio de experiencias y conocimientos que beneficiará a los profesionales y los pacientes”, señalaron.
Fideicomiso con bitcóin
La construcción del hospital veterinario en El Salvador, como se menciona al inicio, proviene de una parte de las ganancias que le dejó la subida del precio de bitcóin al fideicomiso FIDEBITCOIN, en octubre del año pasado, cuando la moneda sobrepasó los USD 55.000.
La obra se construyó con el excedente del fideicomiso. “FIDEBITCOIN tiene un sobrante de USD 4 millones, con respecto al monto que la ley establece que debe administrar”, fueron las palabras de Bukele, reportadas por CriptoNoticias.
El fideicomiso, que fue aprobado el pasado agosto, es de USD 150 millones y provee liquidez para la conversión entre BTC y dólares estadounidenses a los usuarios del monedero Chivo. También, de allí salió el dinero para el bono de USD 30 en bitcóin que recibió cada usuario de la mencionada aplicación.
Cabe acotar que El Salvador es el primer país del mundo que da curso legal a bitcóin. En la nación centroamericana no solo los individuos y empresas están facultados para utilizar bitcóin como moneda, sino también los órganos de la administración pública y demás entes del Estado.
