Donald Trump anuncia su candidatura presidencial para 2024

“El regreso de América empieza ahora mismo”. Así es como Donald Trump ha presentado su candidatura para volver a la Casa Blanca. El expresidente de Estados Unidos ha anunciado este martes que se presentará por tercera vez a la Presidencia del país, dos años después de ser derrotado por Joe Biden en unas elecciones que sigue calificando, sin pruebas, de “fraudulentas”, aunque no se ha referido a ellas en su anuncio.
Presentado como “el próximo presidente” y rodeado de decenas de sus simpatizantes, el magnate y antiguo líder republicano ha recuperado su mantra Make America Great Again con el que dio la sorpresa en 2016 al ser elegido presidente de Estados Unidos. Trump desecha así el lema que escogió para hacer campaña en las elecciones legislativas, Save America, de las manos de Biden y los demócratas. Entonces, el presidente logró una inesperada victoria de la mano de una sólida base descontenta con las élites y la política tradicional, una base motivada por un hombre que hablaba sin tapujos de lo que quería.
Tras semanas de especulaciones, Trump ha escogido su mansión en Mar-a-Lago (Florida) para un anuncio que en 2015 pronunció desde su lujosa Trump Tower en Nueva York.
Pero seis años después, Trump atraviesa uno de sus momentos más frágiles: una vez más, la realidad contradijo a las encuestas y los republicanos no solo no han logrado hacerse con el control del Senado, sino que si logran la mayoría en la Cámara de Representantes será por la mínima. Además, varios de los candidatos aupados por Trump, los mismos que defienden su tesis de fraude electoral en 2020, han sido derrotados y el partido ha perdido a un buen número de gobernadores.
Con todo, ni las voces de la élite republicana que ya abogan por un futuro sin el expresidente, ni la realidad de las urnas han servido para frenar sus deseos, por mucho que el magnate haya proclamado la victoria republicana y “el fin de Nancy Pelosi” en la Cámara baja sin siquiera estar declarada oficialmente. Trump quiere volver y lo hace convencido de que puede movilizar a una base trumpista muy sólida en un país que sigue profundamente polarizado. “Esto es solo el principio del rescate del sueño americano. […] Y como en 2016, vuelvo a ser vuestra voz, aunque el establishment quiera silenciarnos. Me presento porque creo que el mundo no ha visto lo glorioso que puede ser este país”, ha señalado.
Contra un segundo mandato de Biden
Fiel a su estilo populista, Trump ha utilizado buena parte de su discurso para arremeter contra el presidente Joe Biden, su gestión y algunos despites como el agradecimiento a otro país en su discurso en la cumbre del clima en Egipto. Además, ha aprovechado para presumir de los “logros” que se alcanzaron durante su tiempo en la Casa Blanca.
“Los dos últimos años bajo Biden han sido un tiempo de dolor, ansiedad y decadencia”, ha señalado el republicano, que ha criticado la inflación en el país o la «dependencia energética» que dice estar provocada por Biden, no la guerra. Eso sí, ha asegurado que la guerra en Ucrania con él “jamás habría ocurrido”, y ha presumido de que ningún conflicto de la magnitud de la guerra en Europa estalló durante su Presidencia. «Nos están llevando a la guerra nuclear. Hablan de salvar los océanos, pero no se preocupan de unas armas que pueden destruirnos», ha ironizado respecto al retorno de Biden a la agenda climática.
Ya mirando a la campaña, Trump ha prometido “luchar como nunca nadie ha luchar” para impedir que Biden tenga un segundo mandato, si bien el demócrata anunciará su decisión sobre su candidatura a principios de 2023. Según Trump, estos dos años con Biden han llenado el país de “invasores” que trafican con drogas y «errores» que han convertido a Estados Unidos en “el hazmerréir mundial”. “Pero no tiene que ser así. Hace dos años éramos una gran nación y pronto volveremos a serlo. Biden está forzando el declive de América sobre nosotros y ese no es un destino que debamos aceptar”, ha clamado entre aplausos. “Por todo esto, para que América vuelva a ser grande, anuncio que me presentaré en 2024”, ha concluido.
