Coca-Cola retira a 4.000 empleados en tres países
La multinacional Coca-Cola anunció un plan de reestructuración que ofrecerá el retiro voluntario a unos 4.000 empleados en Estados Unidos , Canadá y Puerto Rico Rico y que puede costarle entre 350 y 500 millones de dólares.
La multinacional Coca-Cola, el fabricante de los refrescos más vendidos en todo el mundo, anunció un plan de reestructuración que ofrecerá el retiro voluntario a unos 4.000 empleados en Estados Unidos, Canadá y Puerto Rico y que puede costarle entre 350 y 500 millones de dólares.
La oferta de «paquetes de jubilación» estará disponible para empleados que hayan sido contratados antes del 1 de septiembre de 2017 y, en el boletín de prensa la compañía, que tiene más de 160.000 empleados en todo el mundo, indicó que habrá ofertas similares en muchas de sus operaciones internacionales.

Ya a finales de julio, la compañía Coca-Cola había indicado que ajustaría su portafolio eliminando lo que describió entonces como «marcas zombi», a fin de concentrarse en las de más venta y en aquellas más modestas pero con más potencial.
James Quincey, el consejero delegado de Coca-Cola, dijo que muchas de las 400 marcas de la compañía existen apenas en un solo país y producen apenas el 2% de los ingresos totales.
«Estamos haciendo cambios para priorizar menos marcas pero que sean más grandes y fuertes en la gama de preferencias de los consumidores», señaló Quincey, quien agregó que la empresa necesita «hacer un mejor trabajo en el sustento y crecimiento de marcas más pequeñas y prometedoras, dejando a un lado algunas marcas zombi».

Los recortes de personal también comenzaron a finales de julio, cuando la firma puso fin a la marca Odwalla de jugos embotellados, una decisión que afecta unos 300 de los 900 empleos en esa operación.
La compañía ha elegido fortalecer las inversiones en marcas como Minute Maid y Simply, y en líneas de producto nuevas pero en ascenso como Topo Chico, un agua mineral gaseosa.
La reestructuración fue motivada también por el impacto económico que la pandemia del coronavirus ha tenido sobre las ventas y el consumo de refrescos a nivel internacional.
