Captan a elefante comiendo residuos de plástico abandonados por turistas
El autor de la impactante imagen mencionó que el paquidermo buscaba comida entre las pilas de desechos que recientemente habían dejado desde varias camionetas.
Una imagen mostró el desgarrador momento en el que un elefante hambriento buscaba comida en montones de basura plástica que tiraban los turistas en la India.
El fotógrafo Pranab Das ha captado el instante en que un elefante hambriento merodea sobre una pila de basura abandonada por turistas a las afueras de Siliguri, estado de Bengala Occidental, India.
En la imagen compartida por el portal Nature se puede observar cómo el animal utilizó su trompa para explorar numerosos envases de plástico en busca de algo que comer. El paquidermo se cubrió la cabeza y la espalda con los desperdicios.
Sin embargo, los deshechos que se encuentran tirados en este espacio son un material tóxico y potencialmente mortal si son ingeridos por los animales. Estas habían sido tiradas recientemente por varias camionetas, contó el auto de la imagen.

De acuerdo con los expertos, el olor de los residuos atrajo la atención del elefante, que en condiciones normales suele alimentarse de raíces, hojas, frutos y corteza de árboles.
Por su parte, Pranab Das comentó sobre la triste escena: “El elefante estaba comiendo plástico, lo cual me resultó algo doloroso de ver”. Añadió que “espera que estas fotos animen a la gente a dejar de esparcir desperdicios”.
