Bajas temperaturas extremas: La NASA revela el lugar más frío de la Tierra
‘¡En una noche clara de invierno, las temperaturas pueden bajar a 92 grados centígrados bajo cero!’, dijo la agencia espacial en Twitter.
La Administración Nacional de Aeronáutica y el Espacio, más conocida como NASA, dio a conocer en sus redes oficiales imágenes del lugar más frío en el planeta Tierra.
Se trata de una zona alta de la “meseta antártica oriental, ubicado en el Polo Sur de la Tierra, cerca del centro del continente antártico».
En dicha zona, durante las noches de invierno, las temperaturas son de hasta -92.7 grados centígrados (-136 °F).
«¿Buscas un lugar frío lejos de los demás en estas fiestas? El lugar más frío que hemos encontrado en la Tierra (con la ayuda de NASA Earth satélites) es una cresta alta en la meseta antártica oriental. ¡En una noche clara de invierno, las temperaturas pueden bajar a 135 grados F bajo cero!», escribieron desde la entidad en su cuenta de Twitter.
En las imágenes difundidas por la agencia espacial estadounidense se ve una zona cubierta de hielo, junto con las fotos captadas por los satélites y su descripción científica.

Cabe precisar que, el estudio de estos científicos que hicieron el hallazgo data desde hace más de 32 años, bajo la revisión de varias cartografías de la temperatura de la superficie de la Antártida.
Antes de este descubrimiento, el antiguo récord fue de -89,2 °C (-128,6 °F), registrado en 1983 en la estación rusa de investigación Vostok, en la Antártida Oriental.
