Rusia iniciará esta semana la administración a voluntarios de una vacuna contra el coronavirus COVID-19, parte de un ensayo tras el registro de la inyección, dijo el lunes el ministro de Salud Mikhail Murashko, según declaraciones recogidas por la agencia de prensa TASS.
El ministro agregó que las primeras entregas de la vacuna contra el coronavirus a las regiones rusas están planificados para la próxima semana.
“La vacunación de aquellos que se someterán a ensayos clínicos en la Fase 3 comienza esta semana. Paralelamente, comenzarán las primeras entregas de la vacuna [a las regiones], modestas hasta ahora, para satisfacer todos los intereses”, dijo el ministro.
Rusia ha explicado que en la etapa actual se vacunarán grupos de alto riesgo, en particular médicos y docentes, y que la vacunación se realizará junto con los ensayos clínicos posteriores al registro.
Rusia se convirtió el 11 de agosto en el primer país del mundo en registrar una vacuna contra el coronavirus y la denominó Sputnik V. El anuncio fue hecho por el propio presidente Vladimir Putin. La vacuna fue creada en el Instituto Gamaleya y se sometió a pruebas clínicas en junio-julio.
El director del Instituto Gamaleya de Epidemiología y Microbiología, Alexander Gintsburg, había dicho a TASS que la vacunación de los voluntarios durante la fase de pruebas posteriores al registro comenzaría a principios de setiembre. Participarán un total de 40.000 personas. A 10.000 de ellos se les inyectará una sustancia placebo.
