¿Partidos de la NBA en la casa del Real Madrid? La liga ve como posibilidad jugar en el Santiago Bernabéu
La NBA está de visita en el país ibérico, donde esperan tener más visitas en el futuro.
Este martes 10 de octubre la NBA realizó su espero viaje a España con los Mavericks de Dallas del esloveno Luka Doncic, esto como embajadores para enfrentarse al Real Madrid en un amistoso en el WiZink Center, situación que ha generado todo tipo de expectativas sobre visitas futuras de la liga al estadio Santiago Bernabéu como escenario.
Esto salió a relucir tras el encuentro que mantuvo el comisionado adjunto de la NBA, Mark Tatum, quien conversó con algunos medios de comunicación en Madrid.
“He tenido la oportunidad de ver el nuevo Bernabéu y es increíble lo que han hecho allí. He visto el sistema con el que suben y bajan el césped, será un estadio de clase mundial. Si se dan las circunstancias, nos encantaría jugar allí”, expresó Tatum.
Asimismo, Tatum fue claro al decir que para jugar en el Bernabéu, el pabellón debe cumplir con los estándares necesarios y tener la infraestructura adecuada.
“Una de las primeras cosas que tenemos que tener en la ciudad es un pabellón de clase mundial y Londres tiene el mejor de Europa. Para jugar un partido de liga regular el pabellón tiene que cumplir unos estándares”.
“También cuenta que sea un gran mercado con importante tradición, como Francia, donde además se van a disputar los Juegos el año que viene. Hay otros mercados a los que miramos; Alemania, España, Italia son mercados importantes para nosotros. Algunos están condicionados por no tener esas instalaciones, aunque hay nuevos proyectos. Estamos abiertos a hacer partidos en otras partes”, agregó el comisionado.
En cuanto a las opciones de una franquicia fija en suelo europeo para la NBA, Tatum indicó que parece inviable en la actualidad debido a los desafíos logísticos.
“Si tienes a un equipo radicado en España o en Londres, por ejemplo, hacer que ese equipo viaje a Portland en una temporada de 82 partidos es mucho viajar. Hasta que los aviones no vayan más rápido y podamos reducir la cantidad de tiempo que lleva cruzar el Atlántico, creo que va a ser difícil tener una franquicia de la NBA en Europa”, subrayó. Eso no significa que no se vaya a llevar a cabo un proceso de expansión: “De momento estamos contentos con los 30 equipos que tenemos, pero de forma natural las organizaciones crecen y con el paso del tiempo tendrá sentido crecer. Podemos acoger dos franquicias más”, expresó Mark.
