Por no retirar denuncia de acoso sexual, asesinan a un joven y desnudan a su madre
La hermana de las víctimas, por la que su puso la denuncia de acoso sexual, afirmó que la turba amenazó con violarla si intentaba proteger a los suyos. Hay nueve detenidos.
Un joven perteneciente a la discriminada comunidad dalit o «intocable» fue linchado por una turba que también humilló públicamente a su madre y agredió a su hermana en el centro de la India por negarse a retirar una denuncia de acoso sexual.
El chico, de 18 años, murió de camino al hospital después de que un grupo de personas lo golpease en el distrito de Sagar, en el estado central de Madhya Pradesh.
Las autoridades han detenido hasta el momento a nueve personas supuestamente involucradas en el suceso, incluido el principal acusado, informó el superintendente adicional de Policía de Chhindwara, Sanjeev Uike, según el medio local India Today.
Según la hermana de la víctima, ella y su madre salieron el pasado jueves por la tarde de la casa cuando se encontraron a su hermano, Nitin, siendo golpeado por una turba cerca de una estación de autobuses.
La madre de Nitin, por su parte, dijo que la turba saqueó y destrozó su casa mientras intentaban salvar la vida de su hijo.
«Intentamos salvarlo, pero no pudimos, lo golpearon sin piedad. Me desnudaron y nos quitaron los teléfonos móviles. También nos golpearon a mí y a mi hija», contó la madre en una entrevista recogida por la prensa local en la que aparece acostada sobre una cama con un cabestrillo en un brazo.
Un fuerte dispositivo de seguridad se desplegó en la localidad donde tuvo lugar el incidente, mientras varios políticos de la oposición criticaron lo ocurrido.
El jefe del Partido del Congreso, la principal formación opositora, Mallikarjun Kharge, afirmó en un escrito en la plataforma X, antes Twitter, que Madhya Pradesh, gobernada por el Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) del primer ministro Narendra Modi, ostenta la tasa más alta de crímenes contra la comunidad dalit.
Los dalit se encuentran en el escalafón más bajo del jerárquico sistema de castas hindú y son considerados impuros.
En las zonas rurales, sus viviendas se sitúan a las afueras y se les prohíbe el acceso a pozos o a los templos; a pesar de que la Constitución india de 1950 abolió el sistema de castas, las desigualdades entre sus miembros siguen siendo evidentes.
