Explosión de una casa dejó como saldo cinco muertos
Dos de las víctimas se encontraban caminando por el vecindario cuando ocurrió la explosión que quedó grabada en las cámaras de seguridad del sector. Además de las víctimas fatales, otra persona resultó herida.
Un tragedia se presentó en un suburbio del oeste del estado de Pensilvania, en Estados Unidos, donde se produjo la explosión de una casa y cinco personas acabaron muertas. La vivienda quedó reducida a cenizas y, además de las víctimas mortales, otra persona resultó herida.
La explosión ocurrió alrededor de las 10:30 a. m. del pasado sábado, 12 de agosto de 2023, en el sector conocido como Rustic Ridge Drive, en Plum Borough. Según las imágenes obtenidas por las cámaras de seguridad de la zona, la casa se envolvió en una bola de fuego y voló en pedazos en cuestión de segundos.
Producto de la explosión, algunas puertas y ventanas de las viviendas cercanas se rompieron y las dos casas vecinas no tardaron en incendiarse. Por ahora, los hechos son materia de investigación, ya que todavía no se sabe qué pudo haber desencadenado la emergencia.
Sin embargo, los servicios públicos en el sector fueron suspendidos por seguridad, especialmente en el área cercana a donde se produjo la explosión.
Tras la emergencia, 57 bomberos tuvieron que ser atendidos por heridas menores, incluyendo lesiones relacionadas con el calor.
Al día siguiente, uno de los oficiales que monitoreaba el sitio descubrió que un punto de acceso estaba comenzando a echar humo de nuevo, así que los equipos de profesionales tuvieron que rociar los escombros durante al menos una hora para extinguir el fuego de manera definitiva.
Por su parte, funcionarios de la oficina del jefe de bomberos del condado de Allegheny, quienes son los encargados de la investigación para determinar la causa y el origen del incendio, aseguraron que el proceso puede demorar meses o incluso años, debido a su naturaleza.

Vecinos, familiares y amigos de las víctimas expresaron su preocupación frente al caso. “Esta no es la primera vez que esto sucede en Plum. Necesitamos saber por qué sucede esto. Es triste que la gente haya perdido la vida y no tengamos respuestas. Necesitamos respuestas para estas familias, necesitamos respuestas para esta comunidad”, señaló Justin Newman al medio WTAE.
“Lori y yo estamos orando por familiares, amigos y vecinos que perdieron a alguien ayer en Plum, y estamos agradecidos por los socorristas que corrieron hacia el peligro para salvar vidas. Los cinco residentes de Pensilvania que fallecieron y sus familias están en nuestros pensamientos hoy. Que sus recuerdos sean de bendición”, escribió a través de redes sociales el gobernador de Pensilvania, Josh Shapiro, el pasado domingo.
