El evento sucedió en Australia durante el 2019. La adulta mayor, cuyo nombre es desconocido, salió a buscar huevos del gallinero de su granja, sin sospechar que su gallo la atacaría a picotazos.
De acuerdo con las pesquisas, la mujer murió desangrada debido al picotazo que su gallo le propició en las varices de su pierna izquierda. Este hecho finalmente le hizo perder la vida tras un par de horas.
Aunque las venas varicosas, como también son conocidas, no son dañinas en sí mismas, sí pueden generar complicaciones en casos excepcionales. El sangrado de estos vasos sanguíneos engrandecidos es casi imparable y tiene por resultado una hemorragia. En el caso de esta adulta mayor, se trató de una exanguinación, la forma más grave.
Según los especialistas que vieron el caso, la mujer tenía hipertensión tratada, hiperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, no insulinodependiente, además de sus venas varicosas. Todos estos antecedentes habrían permitido su pronto deceso.
Este fatal hecho demostró que pequeños animales son capaces de causar lesiones fatales, sobre todo, si las personas afectadas presentan vulnerabilidades vasculares específicas vigentes.
