Explosión en pleno vuelo: El cohete más poderoso de la historia, Starship, deja dudas sobre futuro espacial
Starship, el cohete más poderoso que los humanos han construido tenía planeado hoy elevarse a los cielos por primera vez. Aunque el final no fue tal y como lo planeado, el despegue y vuelo inicial fue todo un espectáculo.
Este jueves 20 de abril a las 9:33 am EDT, el cohete de SpaceX despegó con un poderoso rugido desde las instalaciones costeras de Starbase en Boca Chica Beach. Inicialmente se iba a lanzar a inicios de esta semana, pero fue postergado debido a una válvula de presión congelada. El despegue y vuelo inicial fue todo un espectáculo. Se esperaba que el Starship se separara y continuara su camino hacia el espacio, mientras que el Super Heavy Booster regresaría a la Tierra. Aunque no se cumplió la expectativa, SpaceX cataloga a este vuelo de prueba como exitoso, pues el conocimiento recopilado se utilizará para trabajar de cara a su próxima prueba de vuelo que sería en tan solo unos meses. “Con una prueba como esta, el éxito viene de lo que aprendemos, y la prueba de hoy nos ayudará a mejorar la fiabilidad de Starship mientras SpaceX busca hacer la vida multiplanetaria”, dijo SpaceX en Twitter.

“Esta fue una prueba de desarrollo. Es un primer vuelo de prueba de Starship. Y el objetivo es recopilar los datos y, como hemos dicho, despejar la plataforma y prepararnos para volver a volar”, dijo el ingeniero principal de integración de SpaceX, John Insprucker, durante la retransmisión en directo de la compañía. “Así que nunca se sabe exactamente lo que va a pasar. Pero como prometimos, la emoción está garantizada. Y Starship nos regaló un final bastante espectacular para lo que hasta ahora ha sido una prueba realmente increíble”.

Elon Musk, jefe de SpaceX, felicitó al equipo por el emocionante lanzamiento y dijo haber aprendido mucho. Así mismo, también deja en claro hacer otro intento en unos meses.
El imponente Starship está constituido por dos secciones. En su parte inferior se encuentra el cohete Super Heavy, un cilindro de 69 metros de altura equipado con 33 motores, y sobre él se asienta la nave Starship, de 50 metros de altura, según explican los colaborades de SpaceX.
Durante este vuelo, se esperaba que despegue y unos dos minutos y medio después, el cohete Super Heavy se separará de la nave y descenderá al océano. La segunda etapa debía continuar su recorrido utilizando sus motores durante más de seis minutos para alcanzar velocidades casi orbitales. Una vez en el espacio la expectativa era que complete casi una órbita completa de la Tierra antes de volver a entrar en la atmósfera cerca de Hawai.
En definitiva, se estuvo lejos de alcanzar este objetivo, aunque nada quita que fue un evento realmente magnífico. Son años de trabajo que canalizan la esperanza de colonizar el espacio. En el próximo vuelo se usará la experiencia de este.
