Una niña de 13 años murió luego de que acudiera al hospital con fuertes dolores de cabeza, malestar e infección al oído. Fue diagnosticada con leucemia horas antes de fallecer. Julia Chávez, natural de Georgia (Estados Unidos), falleció el último lunes. Dennis, su padre, contó que «tenía sangrado en el cerebro, los pulmones, el estómago y en todo el cuerpo».
La adolescente colapsó el domingo luego de asistir al hospital de urgencia. Le dieron antibióticos, le hicieran análisis de sangre, una tomografía y le diagnosticaron cáncer.
«Nunca ha sido hospitalizada por nada desde que nació»
Dennis cuenta que horas antes del hecho, nadie sospechaba que Julia tenía Leucemia. No tenía señales de advertencia; solo se sentía con fatiga y a veces su piel tenía moretones que se hacía con facilidad. “Cuando ella tenía un moretón, le preguntábamos cómo lo había hecho y ella decía: ‘No sé’ y se encogía de hombros”, dijo Dennis a Daily Mail.
La familia está devastada. Jenna Randall, madre de la adolescente, cuenta que jamás imaginaron que sus molestias se debían al cáncer. «Nunca tuvo más que un resfriado y nunca ha sido hospitalizada por nada desde que nació».
A Julia le encantaba la cultura japonesa y soñaba con ser artista. «Quería aprender todo lo que pudiera al respecto. Era como una enciclopedia», dijo Jenna. «Le compramos un kimono porque siempre quiso uno. Amaba la cultura japonesa y quería visitarla algún día».
La menor, además, tenía una relación muy cercana con su hermano, Jackson Chavez, quien tras su fallecimiento le dijo a su madre: «Sé que es mi hermana, pero es mi mundo».
