Costa Rica: primer país latino en completar paso a televisión digital
Se cerró un proceso de 63 años de televisión analógica, dando paso a una era digital en la televisión nacional.
A la medianoche de este martes 31 de enero se cumplió el plazo máximo establecido en Costa Rica para completar el proceso de transición a la televisión digital terrestre, convirtiéndose en el primer país latinoamericano en brindar señal digital en estándar japonés brasileño (ISDB-Tb) en el 100 % de su territorio.
Gracias al trabajo coordinado por la Comisión Mixta para la implementación de la Televisión Digital Terrestre en Costa Rica, integrada por el Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación, Tecnología y Telecomunicaciones (MICITT), el Consejo Nacional de Rectores (CONARE), el Sistema Nacional de Radio y Televisión (SINART), la Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (SUTEL), la Cámara de Infocomunicación y Tecnología (INFOCOM), la Cámara de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación (CAMTIC) y la Cámara Nacional de Radio y Televisión (CANARTEL) se cierra un proceso de 63 años de televisión analógica, dando paso a una era digital en la televisión nacional que coloca al país a la vanguardia en la región en esta materia.
Carlos Enrique Alvarado Briceño, quien hasta la tarde de este martes fungió como ministro del MICITT, comentó que “El cese de las transmisiones de televisión analógica en el marco de la adopción del estándar japonés brasileño para la televisión digital, implica un claro ejemplo como en Costa Rica se pueden realizar Políticas de Estado, que se ejecutana lo largo de diferentes administraciones gubernamentales”.
“Sin lugar a duda, entre los factores de éxito se encuentra la participación activa del sector público y privado, la cual ha sido articulada desde el MICITT para el cumplimiento de la meta trazada.Para la administración Chaves Robles, este hecho histórico implica el cumplimiento de la primera meta del Plan Nacional de Desarrollo de la Telecomunicaciones 2022-2027”, agregó.
La implementación de la Televisión Digital abierta y gratuita se realizó de forma progresiva y ha otorgado la posibilidad de disfrutar de más programaciones a través de un mismo canal; mejorar la calidad de imagen y sonido, así como facilitar la recuperación de segmentos del espectro radioeléctrico para el desarrollo de otros tipos de servicios de telecomunicaciones como servicios móviles (IMT).
Desde el inicio del proceso, Costa Rica seleccionó el formato digital Japonés-Brasileño (ISDB-Tb), ya que según los análisis técnicos realizados, este sistema de transmisión se adapta mejor a las condiciones geográficas de nuestro territorio. La llamada “Hoja de Ruta para la Transición a la Televisión Digital” y el Modelo de Referencia para la implementación de la TDT en Costa Rica, son los instrumentos que han guiado el proceso de cambio, estableciendo acciones para antes, durante y posterior a los apagones analógicos.
Dicho proceso contó con el apoyo y acompañamiento del Gobierno de Japón, así como la Unión Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT).
