Microsoft despedirá a 10 mil trabajadores; ¿Afectará esto la operación de Costa Rica?
Desde hoy, Microsoft inició con la notificación de algunos de los despidos.
Microsoft anunció este miércoles que despedirá a 10 mil empleados, menos del 5% de su plantilla, y que ha empezado a notificar algunos de los despidos hoy.
El presidente ejecutivo, Satya Nadella, además, anotó en un comunicado que la empresa está pasando por “cambios significativos”.
El pasado julio, Microsoft notificó una ronda de despidos que afectó al 1% de su plantilla, que tenía en total en torno a 180 mil empleados, como consecuencia de un “reajuste estratégico” al inicio de su nuevo ejercicio fiscal.
De momento para la operación de Costa Rica no se hay notificación alguna sobre despidos. Esto porque es una de las zonas a las que Microsoft más le ha apostado por el crecimiento durante los últimos años.
Los colaboradores costarricenses se han distinguido por su gran conocimiento y estudios en ramas tecnológicas, así como con un gran dominio del inglés y salarios competitivos, por lo cual más bien podrían llegar al país otras cuentas de la empresa.
Sindicato
Microsoft, una de las mayores tecnológicas del mundo, aprobó -por primera vez en su historia- la creación de un sindicato en su seno, concretamente dentro de la empresa Zenimax, de la cual es propietaria.
El incipiente sindicato, por el momento sólo activo en Estados Unidos, se llama Zenimax Workers United, y representará a los 300 empleados de QA (control de calidad) de Zenimax, división de Microsoft de juegos virtuales; sus empleados han decidido por una amplia mayoría crear esa primera célula sindical en un proceso que ha durado un mes.
El acuerdo fue anunciado ayer por el sindicato del gremio Communication Workers of America (CWA), al que está afiliada la célula de Zenimax.
En un comunicado al portal económico CNBC, un representante de Microsoft aseguró que reconocen a CWA como su interlocutor “a la luz de los resultados de su reciente voto de sindicalización”, y añadió que ahora toca “entrar en negociaciones de buena fe mientras avanzamos hacia un convenio colectivo”.
