Chaves: “No merecemos la reputación de ser el exportador de cocaína más grande del mundo”
El mandatario celebró que en 2023 estarán instalados los escáneres en puertos, aeropuertos y puestos fronterizos para detectar droga en los contenedores.
El presidente de la República, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, dio a conocer en Cadena Nacional este domingo que el próximo año estarán instalados los escáneres en puertos, aeropuertos y puestos fronterizos para detectar droga en los contenedores.
“Compatriotas, yo me voy a morir tranquilo, en parte porque al fin, luego de 15 años de indolencia, que teníamos la obligación legal de poner escáneres ya el año entrante van a estar instalados”, manifestó Chaves.
“Y esto no es menor, los ticos, este país, no merecemos la reputación de ser el exportador de cocaína más grande del mundo. No se vale y hasta que al fin lo vamos a arreglar, pero esto no es solo un tema de seguridad esto tiene que ver con el empleo y la economía de este país”, agregó.
Por su parte el ministro de Agricultura, Víctor Carvajal, aseguró que miles de empleos en Costa Rica dependen de la exportación de productos, situación que se vería afectada si se dieran cierres debido al trasiego de droga.
“Miles de empleos en este país dependen de las exportaciones de productos, tanto en la producción agrícola como piña, banano, café, que se verían seriamente afectadas por los cierres en los puertos de la recepción de nuestros productos por estar justamente relacionados con el envío de cocaína o de diferentes sustancias”, explicó Carvajal.
“Es decir, si seguimos en esta fiesta nos van a decir no les dejamos enviar nada a nuestros puertos”, aseveró el presidente Chaves.
Mientras que el jerarca de Hacienda, Nogui Acosta, mencionó que son unos 60 millones de dólares los que se van a invertir en los próximos 10 años para colocar los escáneres en puertos y aeropuertos.
El mandatario de la República añadió que los productores van a contar con un rebajo por escaneo de 12 dólares, lo que representa casi una tercera parte del monto.
Finalmente Mauricio Barrantes, gerente general de RACSA, indicó: “Hemos puesto a caminar RACSA, hemos contactado los principales proveedores a nivel mundial para tener la mejor tecnología de punta para garantizar que todos los puertos de este país y aeropuertos sean seguros”.
