Exfutbolista Pastor Fernández será operado del corazón; solicitan donadores de sangre
Gracias a una anotación del exfutbolista, Costa Rica clasificó a su primer Mundial de fútbol: Italia 90.
Pastor Fernández Beita es el responsable de darle al país una de las alegrías más grandes en materia deportiva: es el autor del gol que llevó a Costa Rica al mundial de Italia 90, el primero en la historia de la Tricolor. Por cosas de la vida no fue convocado a la Copa del Mundo. Ahora, a las puertas del sexto mundial de La Sele, el exfutbolista se juega el partido de su vida.
Fernández, de 59 años, se encuentra internado en el sétimo piso del Hospital México a la espera de una cirugía cardiaca.
El exjugador presenta un mal funcionamiento de la válvula mitral. Actualmente necesita el reemplazo, o la reparación de la válvula.
“Tuve un problema a la hora de hacer ejercicio, me faltaba el aire, pues para una persona como yo que siempre hace ejercicio, me llamó la atención. Me dio una arritmia un poco fuerte, busqué ayuda y me enteré de que tenía un soplo en una válvula que estaba dañada. No podré volver a jugar fútbol ni golpes de contacto, ahora sería natación o correr, pero al menos puedo recuperar mi vida de ejercicio”, declaró el exfutbolista a Telenoticias.
Al ser una cirugía cardiaca la que necesita Fernández, se necesitan donantes de sangre. Por eso el exfutbolista hizo un llamado a los ciudadanos.
“Toda aquella persona que pueda donar a nombre mío les voy a agradecer, pero también la sangre que no se va a utilizar en mi caso va a quedar de servicio para el Banco de Sangre, aprovecho para extender esa invitación”, dijo.
El procedimiento estará a cargo del medico Manuel Alvarado Arce, jefe de Servicio de Cirugía Cardiovascular y Torácica del centro médico.
“Requiere un tratamiento quirúrgico, no hay otra, desde hace meses venimos dándole seguimiento con el equipo, porque ya ha dado signos de alerta y alarma que la progresión de enfermedad cardiaca dice que ya es el momento”, explicó el especialista al noticiero de canal 7.
