Día Mundial del Huevo: ¿Sabía que cada tico consume 225 unidades al año?
Con el pasar del tiempo crece el consumo de este alimento en el país. ¿Cuáles son los beneficios que tiene para la salud?
Este viernes 14 de octubre se celebra el Día Mundial del Huevo. Y un aspecto relevante, en el caso de Costa Rica, es que los ticos consumen en promedio 15 kilos de huevos al año, para una media de 225 unidades.
Así lo dio a conocer la Cámara Costarricense de Avicultores (CANAVI).
“Hace 15 años el consumo era 180 unidades por persona -para un aproximado de 11Kg- por año. Actualmente es de 225 unidades por persona por año”, manifestó William Cardoza, director ejecutivo de la cámara.
El huevo es la proteína de más fácil absorción, contiene minerales y tiene un bajo costo.
“El huevo es uno de los alimentos más versátiles de la dieta cotidiana la recomendación nutricional es consumir dos diarios y este puede ser de diferentes formas: frito, revuelto, en torta, con jamón o queso, con atún o tomate, de la forma que se desee puede ser consumido a portando sus valores nutricionales a nuestro cuerpo.”, destacó Cardoza.
Un solo huevo aporta seis gramos de proteína y 14 nutrientes esenciales, incluyendo vitaminas A, B, D y E. Además es fuente de calcio, selenio y yodo.
Este viernes se celebró a lo grande el Día Mundial del Huevo en el Parque Juan Santamaría, en Alajuela, el objetivo principal fue explicar a la población los beneficios de este nutritivo alimento para que lo incluya en sus dietas diarias.
Se repartieron 300 kilos de huevos en desayunos que se empezaron a dar a todos los presentes en la actividad que se realizó de 8 a.m. a 11 a.m.
El Día del Huevo fue establecido por la Comisión Internacional del Huevo (Egg Commission) en 1964, en la segunda conferencia internacional de este producto.
