Luis Fernando Suárez renueva como director técnico de La Sele
El técnico cafetero continuará al frente del combinado patrio hasta el 2026.
¡Se acabaron las especulaciones! El colombiano Luis Fernando Suárez renovó su contrato con la Selección de Costa Rica por cuatro años más.
El cafetero que dirigirá su tercer Mundial en noviembre próximo (tras Alemania 2006 con Ecuador y Brasil 2014 con Honduras), firmó un nuevo vínculo hasta 2026 con la Tricolor.
“La FCRF se complace en anunciar la renovación del director técnico de #LaSele, Luis Fernando Suárez hasta el año 2026. ¡Muchos éxitos profe, vamos por más!”, informó la Federación Costarricense de Fútbol por medio de sus redes sociales.
El experimentado director técnico de 62 años, asumió el mando de La Sele a principios de 2021 y el 14 de junio pasado selló la clasificación a la Copa del Mundo de Qatar tras vencer a Nueva Zelanda en el repechaje internacional.
En la cita mundialista La Sele compartirá en el Grupo E contra España, Alemania y Japón.
“Lo quería vivir y lo estoy gozando. Es un momento importante en mi carrera como entrenador. Tengo un agradecimiento eterno al pueblo de Costa Rica, a todo el país, porque se desbordaron en apoyo hacia la Selección en los últimos partidos. La gente hizo mucho para que esto se consiguiera. Y también quiero agradecer al grupo humano (de trabajo), en mi vida había colaborado con personas tan inteligentes y comprometidas por conseguir los objetivos”, manifestó Suárez en conferencia de prensa.
Por su parte, el presidente de la FCRF, Rodolfo Villalobos, señaló: “Me siento orgulloso y feliz de estar aquí para anunciar la prolongación de su contrato. Nos tomamos el tiempo necesario y en el momento necesario; ambas partes habíamos mostrado el interés de llegar a un acuerdo y quiero agradecer a todo el equipo de don Luis Fernando por el apoyo y la cooperación”.
