Joven víctima de explosión en POPS es trasladada al Hospital del Trauma
El INS desmintió comentarios que indican que la joven ocupará prótesis costosas y que la póliza de riesgo laboral no las cubre.
Keylin Barquero Acuña, la joven que fue víctima de la explosión de un cilindro de óxido nitroso en una de las heladerías de la POPS el sábado 16 de julio, fue trasladada el pasado jueves a la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI) del Hospital del Trauma, adscrito al Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS).
El centro médico confirmó a La Nación que la joven, de 30 años, recibe tratamiento de medicina intensiva, medicina interna, infectología, ortopedia, humanización y trabajo social en dicho centro médico.
Edward Guevara Espinoza, jefe de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos, comentó al rotativo el lunes anterior que Barquero continuaba sedada y con ventilación asistida.
Keylin, fue internada en el hospital México desde el sábado y se ha mantenido sedada para evitar el dolor producto de las lesiones.
“Se está a la espera de ir disminuyendo dosis de sedaciones para evaluar su respuesta neurológica. Sin duda la gravedad de las lesiones justifica dar tiempo todavía, pero su condición general es aceptablemente buena”, indicó.
Cilindro para preparar crema chantilly: el detonante
La explosión de un cilindro de óxido nitroso el pasado sábado en el local de la heladería POPS ubicado en el centro comercial de La Ceiba en Alajuela, provocó que dos mujeres y un hombre fueran llevados en condición muy delicada a hospitales de Alajuela, Heredia y San José, a raíz de la conflagración ocurrida. Otras siete personas fueron trasladadas en condición menos grave.
Dos de las personas graves son empleadas de la heladería alcanzadas por la onda y un tercer paciente fue un distribuidor de productos, identificado como Freddy Suárez, alcanzado por partículas de metal que golpearon su cabeza.
Aún no se conoce la razón de la combustión y las autoridades continúan efectuando las investigaciones correspondientes, las cuales, se podrían extender por varios días.
El martes anterior por la tarde, POPS compartió un comunicado en el que señaló que retiraron los cilindros de óxido nitroso de las 103 heladerías que hay en el país.
“Aunque existen varias hipótesis, aún no hay un resultado oficial de las investigaciones. Dado que estos son procesos de verificación que se pueden tratar; decidimos voluntariamente retirar los cilindros de óxido nitroso hasta que conozcamos el reporte final de las autoridades. Queremos que todos nuestros clientes y colaboradores se sigan sintiendo seguros en nuestras heladerías. A partir de este martes 19 de julio estaremos operando con un procedimiento distinto”, aseguró Wilberth Taborda, gerente de POPS en Costa Rica.
Dos semanas de ser la administradora
Según informó La Nación Keylin Barquero Acuña tiene tan solo dos semanas de ser la administradora de la heladería POPS ubicada a 700 metros norte de los Tribunales de Alajuela.
Su hermana, Rebeca expresó al periódico que horas después de la explosión los médicos del Hospital San Rafael les comunicaron la necesidad de amputarle la pierna y mano del lado izquierdo a su hermana, pues ella recibió por ese costado el impacto más fuerte de la deflagración.
Keilyn es soltera, sin hijos y tiene siete años de laborar en esa empresa que, de acuerdo con Rebeca, desde el primer momento se solidarizó con la familia y les ha ofrecido toda la ayuda, hospedaje y transporte para las visitas.
El Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS) desmintió comentarios que circulan, principalmente en redes sociales, que indican que la joven ocupará prótesis costosas y que la póliza de riesgo laboral no las cubre.
Ante los rumores, la entidad explicó que de momento, la condición clínica de Keylin no es apta para determinar el requerimiento de prótesis u otros implementos.
“Sin embargo, en caso de ser requeridas o necesitar otro tipo de recursos, la póliza de riesgos del trabajo ofrece la cobertura para ese fin”, indicó el INS en un comunicado de prensa.
