Tras aparatosa explosión, POPS retira cilindros de óxido nitroso de todas sus heladerías
La empresa retiró las estructuras de los 103 puntos de venta en el país
Luego de la aparatosa explosión ocurrida en uno de sus locales el fin de semana pasado, heladerías POPS retirará de todas sus sucursales los cilindros de óxido nitroso, utilizados en el proceso de elaboración de la crema chantillí.
Así lo dio a conocer la compañía por medio de un comunicado de prensa: “Este martes 19 de julio inició el retiro de los cilindros de óxido nitroso de los 103 puntos de venta en el país”.
La empresa indicó en el boletín que está atendiendo los temas relacionados con la explosión.
“Aunque existen varias hipótesis, aún no hay un resultado oficial de las investigaciones. Dado que estos son procesos de verificación que se pueden tardar, decidimos voluntariamente retirar los cilindros de óxido nitroso hasta que conozcamos el reporte final de las autoridades”, manifestó Wilberth Taborda, gerente de POPS en Costa Rica.
“Queremos que todos nuestros colaboradores y clientes se sigan sintiendo seguros en nuestras heladerías. A partir de este martes 19 de julio, estaremos operando con un procedimiento distinto”, agregó.
Pese a que todavía no existe un informe oficial sobre la causa del incidente Taborda indicó que el personal técnico y los proveedores de la marca están trabajando de la mano de las autoridades para determinar qué provocó el accidente, ya que no hay un antecedente de una situación de esta naturaleza.
Por último, Taborda agradeció a todas las personas que se contactaron para conocer el estado de las dos empleadas que resultaron heridas: “Ellas están recibiendo atención médica y esperamos que pronto puedan estar de nuevo con sus seres queridos. Continuaremos brindándoles el acompañamiento debido”.
¿Qué fue lo que pasó?
La noche del sábado anterior un cilindro de óxido nitroso explotó en la heladería POPS ubicada en el centro comercial Auto Mercado en La Ceiba, Alajuela.
Según confirmó la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS), nueve personas resultaron heridas y fueron atendidas en los hospitales de Alajuela, Heredia y México.
Una joven de 30 años, quien laboraba en la heladería, permanece en condición delicada en el hospital México. Los médicos confirmaron que se encuentra en coma inducido por las graves quemaduras y problemas en sus órganos, debido al golpe que sufrió tras la onda expansiva que se generó por la explosión.
Heladerías POPS inició sus operaciones en Centroamérica en 1968, en Costa Rica tiene 800 empleados.
