Carlos Alvarado profesor: dará clases en una universidad de Estados Unidos
El exmandatario impartirá lecciones de diplomacia en la Escuela Fletcher en Massachusetts.
El expresidente de la República, Carlos Alvarado, se irá a vivir a Estados Unidos para convertirse en profesor de práctica en diplomacia en la Escuela de Derecho y Diplomacia Fletcher de la Universidad Tufts, en el estado de Massachusetts.
Así lo dio a conocer la casa universitaria la mañana de este martes. De acuerdo con el centro de estudios la elección se realizó debido a las acciones realizadas por Alvarado en materia ambiental así como por el manejo de la pandemia provocada por la covid-19.
“Es un honor y un placer que el expresidente Alvarado se incorpore a la Escuela Fletcher. Ha sido un ejemplo inspirador de cómo los líderes políticos pueden perseguir una gobernanza eficaz al tiempo que defienden la naturaleza”, manifestó Rachel Kyte, decana de la Escuela Fletcher.
“Como presidente demostró cómo un Estado pequeño como Costa Rica puede trabajar para encontrar soluciones a las crisis mundiales cuando los países grandes no quieren o no pueden hacerlo”, agregó.
Kyte resaltó que la labor de Alvarado: “Servirá para la creación de una nueva arquitectura para la diplomacia de los Estados pequeños”.
La Universidad Tufts destacó además el galardón que recibió Alvarado en el mes de junio pasado sobre Liderazgo Planetario 2022 de la National Geographic Society. Esto por su labor realizada para la protección de los océanos.
También por el lanzamiento el Plan Nacional de Descarbonización de Costa Rica dado a conocer en febrero de 2019, que traza la ruta para descarbonizar la economía del país para el año 2050.
Feliz con la designación
El expresidente comentó en sus redes sociales que espera aportar a sus futuros estudiantes toda la experiencia que obtuvo como mandatario de la República entre 2018-2022.
“Quiero aportar a Fletcher la experiencia forjada como Presidente de Costa Rica en materia de diplomacia de los pequeños Estados, acción climática efectiva, descarbonización y conservación de la biodiversidad”,escribió el expresidente.
“Para compartirla, debatirla y enriquecerla en un fructífero intercambio con una generación de jóvenes líderes que anhelan dejar su huella al tiempo que efectúan un cambio positivo en el mundo”, añadió.
