¡De milagro! Conductor de 62 años sobrevive tras caer a un guindo de 800 metros
Durante 90 horas Troy Matz solo tomó agua de una quebrada. Cayó a un barranco en Nicoya el 1 de junio y lo encontraron el sábado anterior en horas de la tarde.
Troy Matz, un conductor de 62 años, prácticamente se salvó de morir en forma milagrosa. Cayó con su automóvil a un guindo de aproximadamente 800 metros de profundidad.
Al fondo del barranco Matz, de nacionalidad estadounidense pero que reside en el país, quedó a un lado de una quebrada de la cual bebió durante las 90 horas que se mantuvo en el lugar.
Todo inició el pasado miércoles 1 de junio cuando el conductor viajaba en su carro rumbo hacia su casa en Naranjales de Nicoya, cuando de pronto se precipitó por el barranco.
Sus familiares no sabían qué le había pasado y solo se limitaban a decir que se encontraba desaparecido. Fue hasta el sábado anterior cuando varios vecinos lo encontraron con fuerzas luego de pasar casi cuatro días solo ingiriendo agua.
Durante el miércoles, jueves, viernes y parte del sábado la incertidumbre se apoderó de la comunidad de Naranjales con respecto al paradero de Matz.
Fue el sábado en la tarde cuando un motociclista que transitaba por la calle principal vio un rastro de zacate majado, se asomó al guindo y vio que había un carro al que atajaban unos árboles.
Otros vecinos bajaron y encontraron al estadounidense a un costado de la quebrada, luego avisaron a las autoridades y posteriormente llegó una unidad del Cuerpo de Bomberos que realizó el rescate que duró aproximadamente cuatro horas.
Según contó el bombero Elías Palma a diario La Teja Matz había salido del carro por sus propios medios, pero algo desorientado y siguió cayendo hasta lo más profundo del guindo.
“El carró quedó entre 70 y 80 metros desde la calle principal y Matz quedó a unos 800 metros de donde quedó el carro. En el sitio había mucha pendiente y él rodó hasta quedar al lado del agua. Consideramos que cuando se le acabaron las energías quedó a la par de la quebrada, con esta agua sobrevivió”, detalló el bombero al medio.
Palma contó que el conductor tenía miedo de que nadie lo encontrara y pensó que iba a morir en el lugar del accidente.
“Cuando vio los equipos de emergencia se tranquilizó. Le decíamos que pronto iba a estar afuera, pero solo nos decía que ya se sentía acompañado, pero que se iba a sentir seguro hasta que estuviera montado en la ambulancia”, recordó Palma.
“Decía que era un milagro, no sabía dónde estaba. Tenía claro que iba para la casa (cuando se fue al barranco), pero no sabía en qué parte del camino quedó”, agregó.
El bombero comentó que vivió junto a sus compañeros momentos de tensión porque no creían que pudiera aguantar tanto tiempo. Los rescatistas no bajaron por la pendiente sino que atravesaron un cerro para hacer un rescate seguro.
Palma recalcó que el estado físico de Troy le ayudó mucho y quizás esto fue lo que lo mantuvo con algunas fuerzas.
El estadounidense les comentó que practicó por mucho tiempo fútbol americano.
Matz sufrió varios raspones y se quejaba de dolores musculares, lumbares, y tenía un golpe al costado derecho del cuerpo.
Además se le veían muchas picaduras de mosquito y estuvo en peligro de ser atacado por algún animal. “Ahí hay culebras, coyotes, es una montaña. Estuvo en peligro de todo y salió libre de eso”, dijo el bombero.
Con respecto al carro quedó en la pendiente, por la forma en la que se encuentra es muy difícil sacarlo.
