Primera Dama de Estados Unidos, Jill Biden, visitará Costa Rica
Como parte de su gira por varios países de Latinoamérica.
Jill Biden parte este miércoles desde Washington para una gira latinoamericana de seis días, con paradas programadas en Ecuador, Panamá y Costa Rica, según indica un comunicado de la Casa Blanca.
En el viaje también irá la hija de Biden, Ashley Biden. La gira “enfatizará la importancia de la asociación de Estados Unidos”, así como el compromiso de los tres países con la democracia, “en una región donde el retroceso democrático es cada vez más común”, indica el boletín.
En Costa Rica, la primera dama se trasladará a la residencia del jefe de misión donde compartirá con mujeres costarricenses que han participado en programas del Departamento de Estado de EE.UU. enfocados en emprendimiento femenino y empoderamiento económico.
Posteriormente, la primera dama cenará con el presidente Rodrigo Chaves y la primera dama Signe Zeikate.
El domingo 22 de mayo, la primera dama visitará el Hospital Nacional de Niños (HNN) para resaltar la colaboración de EE.UU. y Costa Rica en el combate del cáncer y ofrecerá unas palabras.
Luego, se reunirá con el personal de la Embajada de EE.UU. ubicada en San José.
El lunes 23 de mayo, la primera dama visitará un centro comunitario a través del programa Sembremos Seguridad. El programa es liderado por el gobierno de Costa Rica con apoyo del Departamento de Estado de EE.UU.
Este se centra en transformar la seguridad en comunidades locales, trabajando con gobiernos locales, organizaciones no gubernamentales e instituciones de aplicación de la ley para ofrecer programas de prevención, incluyendo actividades saludables y espacios seguros para la juventud costarricense.
Posteriormente, la primera dama partirá de San José hacia la base conjunta Andrews.
