Diario Extra en aprietos: Debe pagar ₡3.774 millones el jueves para evitar quiebra
Tras un conflicto legal con una accionista.
La Sociedad Periodística Extra Limitada, propietaria de Diario Extra debe pagarle la suma de ₡3.774 millones ($5,9 millones) a una accionista este jueves 3 de marzo para evitar que se inicie un proceso de quiebra en su contra.
El caso fue confirmado por el abogado Federico Campos, representante legal de la denunciante, una mujer llamada Dunia Ugalde, al medio AmeliaRueda.com.
De acuerdo con el jurista Grupo Extra adquirió en el año 2004 un compromiso de pago por $50 mil mensuales hasta completar la suma de $15 millones, correspondientes a una gran cantidad de acciones que la mujer mantiene sobre Diario Extra.
Dicha obligación se materializó en un marco de legalidad en el 2004, mientras el fundador de Diario Extra, William Gómez Vargas (quien falleció en 2012), acordó los pagos mensuales a cambio de una cuarta parte de las acciones de la empresa y que Ugalde tenía en su poder.
Campos explicó a AmeliaRueda.com que la polémica se produjo por la falta de pagos en que incurrió Grupo Extra desde el mes de abril del 2020, y que a la fecha, sumando intereses, alcanza los $6 millones.
Los documentos judiciales tratan sobre una asamblea de socios de Sociedad Periodística Extra Limitada en donde se tomó la determinación de frenar los pagos considerando la situación económica que vive la empresa.
El abogado de la denunciante confirmó que Iary Gómez, gerente general de Grupo Extra, presentó una serie de denuncias penales ante la fiscalía señalando aparentes esquemas de fraude por parte de Dunia Ugalde. Sin embargo, las quejas ahora pasaron a vía civil porque en la sede penal iban a ser desestimadas.
Campos indicó a AmeliaRueda.com que el caso se encuentra en desarrollo por lo que no puede dar más detalles.
Iary Gómez declaró al periódico La Nación que fue notificada de la situación el lunes anterior.
“Fuimos notificados el día de ayer (lunes para el lector) y lo está viendo el despacho de abogados que tenemos. Eso es un expediente aparte que tenemos contra esa socia en las vías penal y civil”, dijo la gerente general de Diario Extra.
La cancelación de los ₡3.774 millones deberá quedar cubierta el jueves 3 de marzo durante una audiencia en el Juzgado. De no cumplir con el pago, el juez Sergio Huertas Ortega, del Juzgado Concursal del Primer Circuito Judicial de San José podría declarar la quiebra de la empresa periodística.
Campos agregó que como parte de la situación Ugalde está solicitando al Ministerio Público que, en caso de que haya una declaratoria de quiebra sobre el medio, se investigue si hubo algún tipo de esquema fraudulento por parte de la gerencia de Grupo Extra que generara la crisis financiera.
