Muere padre de periodista José Alberto Montenegro tras ser atropellado por un autobús
El lamentable hecho ocurrió este viernes a las 5:20 a.m. en San Carlos.
José Montenegro Zapata, de 68 años, falleció tras ser atropellado esta mañana por un autobús de la empresa Coopatrac cuando circulaba por el sector del cruce de San Roque en Ciudad Quesada, San Carlos.
El siniestro tuvo lugar a las 5:20 a.m. según informó Rita Rodriguez, de Telecomunicaciones de la Cruz Roja Costarricense.
Don José, quien era reconocido por su amor al atletismo, salía todos los días a correr. De acuerdo con una publicación del medio San Carlos Digital a esa hora la neblina era muy densa en el sector por lo que la falta de visibilidad habría ocasionado que el señor intentara cruzar la vía sin percatarse de que el bus se acercaba.
El atleta falleció en el lugar, según indicó el reporte judicial.
Al conductor del autobús, de apellido Salas, se le practicó la alcoholemia como lo indica el protocolo, la cual arrojó un resultado negativo.
Don Jose, era el padre del reconocido periodista deportivo José Alberto Montenegro quien ha trabajado para medios como Repretel, Columbia y ahora es parte de Tigo Sports.
Montenegro Zapata, quien era vecino del barrio San Martín, participó en cientos de carreras a nivel nacional e internacional. Incluso a sus 65 años corrió una maratón en Nueva York.
La Asociación Deportiva San Carlos realizó una publicación en sus redes sociales al igual que los organizadores de La Fortuna Run quien había dedicado la primera edición del evento a don José Montenegro Zapata.
