Mordedura de serpiente acaba con la vida de atleta de Olimpiadas Especiales
Jeikol Gómez, de 17 años, obtuvo la presea de oro en el mundial de tenis en República Dominicana en 2018.
Tras dos semanas de luchar por su vida luego de sufrir la mordedura de una serpiente terciopelo este jueves falleció Jeikol Gómez, atleta de Olimpiadas Especiales.
El joven, de 17 años, se encontraba internado en el Hospital Escalante Pradilla, en Pérez Zeledón.
Según indicó el portal de noticias Teletica.com, el joven sufrió la mordedura mientras cortaba caña de bambú en El Roble de Laurel, en Corredores, cerca de la frontera con Panamá.
Al deportista se le desarrolló una grave infección en el sitio de la mordedura, por lo que el pasado cuatro de febrero los médicos decidieron amputarle la pierna derecha. Gómez continuó luchando por su vida, pero este jueves cerró sus ojos para siempre.
Jeikol era tenista, obtuvo la presea de oro en el mundial de esa disciplina en República Dominicana en 2018 a nivel individual.
La organización de Olimpiadas Especiales publicó en sus redes sociales el siguiente mensaje: “Nos unimos al dolor de su familia y amigos, Jeikol luchó hasta el final, como todo un campeón. Paz a sus restos y un abrazo fraternal a su familia”.
Este 2022 Jeikol finalizaría sus estudios en secundaria en el colegio Finca Naranjo, en la zona sur. Soñaba con convertirse en cocinero y marinero.
