(Video) Niegan la entrada a un restaurante a joven con autismo por estar con su perro guía
El hecho ocurrió en Ciudad Quesada, en San Carlos.
A una joven de 15 años le negaron la entrada en uno de los restaurantes de la cadena Subway ubicado en Ciudad Quesada, en San Carlos, por entrar con su perro de asistencia el cual la acompaña diariamente debido a que presenta la condición trastorno del espectro autista.
El hecho fue denunciado por la madre de la menor y publicado en el medio San Carlos Digital.
La madre de María Belén les explicó a los colaboradores del restaurante la situación, inclusive les mostró el carné respectivo con la autorización del Consejo Nacional de Personas con Discapacidad (Conapdis), pero no logró que las dejaran permanecer dentro del local.
La persona que las atendió realizó una llamada para exponer el caso con las autoridades del restaurante, minutos después les reconfirmó que no podía ingresar el perro de asistencia, llamado Levy, y que si querían tener más información debían llamar a servicio al cliente.
Tras el hecho, las ofendidas se pusieron en contacto con un abogado para presentar una acción civil contra el restaurante por violación a la Ley 7600. También llamaron a la Fuerza Pública para que levantara un acta sobre el hecho.
Además, una tercera persona interpuso un recurso de amparo por este caso.
“Hay que sentar un precedente porque no crea usted que es la primera vez que me pasa, en un supermercado me han sacado a Belén tres veces, en otro restaurante le preguntaron que cuál enfermedad tenía para andar un perro por que se veía normal. Falta mucho para que la gente entienda de esto”, comentó la mamá de la joven.
Belén es la primera persona con condición de autismo que tiene un perro de asistencia en San Carlos. Levy está siempre con ella, incluso la acompaña a clases en el Colegio Agropecuario de San Carlos.
Subway se disculpa
La cadena de restaurantes Subway envió un comunicado en el que aclara que la situación se dio por un malentendido.
“Lamentamos mucho lo sucedido y estamos seguros de que, de nuestra parte, hubo un grave problema de comunicación y nuestro colaborador debió hacer las preguntas y verificaciones necesarias antes de impedir que el perro se mantuviera dentro del local. Les ofrecemos a nuestras clientas una disculpa pública y nuestro compromiso de que revisaremos a lo interno nuestras políticas, así como reforzaremos con nuestros colaboradores, el tratamiento de estos casos”, declaró Gia Pandolfo, Gerente de Mercadeo de Subway.
La empresa destacó que el colaborador que atendió a doña Andrea y a María Belén lo hizo de manera respetuosa, aunque no se percató en ese momento que el can servía de apoyo emocional a la joven.
“Somos conscientes de la importancia de estos animales y que son vitales como apoyo al ser humano. Una muestra de eso es que nunca hemos tenido una queja o denuncia en ese sentido en el pasado, y tanto la joven como su familia, pueden estar seguros que reforzaremos nuestra política de la aplicación de la Ley sin excepciones en todos los restaurantes del país para que esta situación no se vuelva a repetir”, concluyó Pandolfo.
