Óscar Arias se arrepiente 34 años después: pide perdón a las lesbianas de Costa Rica y el mundo
En un acto de profunda reflexión el expresidente de Costa Rica, Óscar Arias (1986-1990 y 2006-2010) emitió una disculpa pública por su decisión de no aprobar un congreso de lesbianas en abril de 1990, durante los últimos días de su primera administración.
“Cometí un grave error”, admitió Arias, hablando desde la experiencia acumulada en 34 años.
“Hoy jamás tomaría una decisión de esa índole”. En un emotivo comunicado, el exmandatario subrayó que su comprensión sobre los derechos humanos ha evolucionado significativamente, reflejando una mayor apreciación por la diversidad y la inclusión.
“El Oscar Arias de 2024 no es la misma persona que el Oscar Arias de 1990. Hoy entendemos mejor que nadie elige libremente sus preferencias sexuales”, agregó.
Arias comparó su error con la famosa declaración del político e intelectual francés Charles Maurice de Talleyrand sobre la ejecución del duque de Enghien: “fue peor que un crimen, fue un imperdonable error”. El expresidente expresó que su disculpa llega en el momento adecuado, brindándole una profunda paz y satisfacción.
“Mi disculpa proviene de los estratos más profundos de mi alma y eso es lo que más valor le confiere”, concluyó Arias, ofreciendo sus sinceras disculpas al grupo de mujeres cuyo congreso no aprobó en su momento.
