¡Orgullo tico! Colegiala recibe reconocimiento de Oxford al ganar competencia latinoamericana de redacción en inglés

Lucía Vargas Arango, una estudiante de 14 años del Saint John Baptist School en Alajuela, se alzó con el primer lugar en el prestigioso concurso latinoamericano de redacción en inglés, conocido como Big Read 2023.
La talentosa joven destacó entre participantes de toda la región con un ensayo reflexivo sobre la historia de Mulán, una de sus princesas favoritas.
Lucía contó a Telenoticias que eligió el libro de Mulán como su fuente de inspiración, explorando en su ensayo temas relacionados con el feminismo y el deseo de la heroína de proteger a su familia y mejorar su comunidad.
El reconocimiento a la destacada redacción de Lucía fue otorgado por la editorial de la Universidad de Oxford, un logro que resalta la calidad del trabajo de la estudiante en el difícil ámbito de la escritura en inglés.
Erick Morales de Oxford University Press comentó: “Después de 26 años de trabajo en la empresa, es la primera vez que un país de Centroamérica gana un concurso latinoamericano, y más aún en el área de lectura en inglés. Es algo que queríamos resaltar por la importancia que tiene”.
Los profesores de Lucía jugaron un papel fundamental en su éxito, brindando apoyo y orientación desde el principio.
