Magistrados aprueban reforma que permitiría extradición de costarricenses por terrorismo
Los magistrados de la Sala Constitucional (Sala IV) han dado luz verde a un proyecto de ley que permite la extradición de ciudadanos costarricenses involucrados en casos de terrorismo y narcotráfico, tras revisar su constitucionalidad. La reforma, que modifica el artículo 32 de la Constitución Política, fue analizada bajo el expediente legislativo 23.701 y no se encontraron vicios que impidan su avance.
El magistrado instructor, Paul Rueda, explicó que los legisladores tienen la potestad de modificar la Constitución siempre que no se afecte el contenido esencial de los derechos fundamentales. Con esta reforma, Costa Rica busca fortalecer su colaboración en la lucha internacional contra el terrorismo y el tráfico de drogas.
La medida está respaldada por diversos tratados internacionales que el país ha suscrito, los cuales contemplan la extradición como una herramienta clave para combatir estos delitos que amenazan la seguridad global. La aprobación de esta reforma permitiría una mayor cooperación con otras naciones en la persecución de estos crímenes.
